This thread reminded me of an episode of This Old House or some such thing
where they visited a factory in San Francisco that specialized in
reproduction hardware -- door knobs, hinges, etc. They also went through
the steps and even included comments about the shrinkage and how they
compensated

The car now makes good noises at both ends. I put a FIAMM on and have sprayed the
LUCAS ones, still hoping to get at least one working (perpetually optomistic).
Anyway, it would pass an inspection now if it needed to and might even prevent a
careless driver from bumping into it

I put my '73 motor in the machine shop for a rebuild and it ran OK . It will
probably need .010 bore and minimal crank work, mains etc.
Now that I think about it, I should have had the '77 motor, that I don't
know anything about rebuilt and saved the good motor for a spare.
Bore the cylinders out
