The only thing I can think of is where there is to be a 2” clearance to
structural that isn’t supporting piping. The AHJ could be confused as to what
is structural and what isn’t.

I’ve never seen anything but we have had inspector’s misinterpret the
prohibition for supporting anything from sprinkler pipe to mean touching…never
seen this one though.
