Good evening. There is more praxis tnah code in this issue. Padlock and
chain supervising is quite accepted. So, there is no a mandatory

Here is an easy one for Friday. Is there a general requirement that all

There are valves that are wired for normally closed but you can switch the
wires on a regular valve around but it won't go into supervisory in the number
of turns required per code.
On my jobs, all with the same AHJ, we always either swap the wires and lock
them open, or just lock them only.
There is no blanket requirement, NFPA 25 2010 4.16 covers what valves must be
supervised, personally I think it's rather poorly worded, but if you read

Closed. The test outlet control valves shall be supervised closed.

I'm not sure NFPA #25 would apply to a new installation. NFPA 20 requires the
pump enclosure to be supervised or controlled but I found nothing

Excuse the typo of lock a valve like this open, I meant closed obviously.
Also the supervision of flowmeter valves is mentioned again in the pump
installation checklist
