Not sure I get your question... that combobox would yield exactly the same
results as what is currently changed in the preferences. If what you ask is
the actual behavior then it would continue to be the same

You actually perfectly answered my question! And sorry that I wan't clear
enough. I meant to ask that, if I change Inline to Automatic in the
widget, and then close spyder, and re-open again - will it now go back to
Inline default? Or will I see the last option that I chose, which is
