I am listening in here. I wanted to do this for a while now! @DJanGo: I never heard about this feature before, but it sounds like it is a global setting? Wouldn't it mess of the view of my other music (i.e., non-podcasts), or is there some way to target the feature?

Given my problem was created by incorrectly setting a debug option, are there things in the Prefs folder that shouldn't be restored? In your particular case it was the log.conf which caused problems. That file you would probably never need to backup/restore. It's usefulness is very limited.
