Hi All,
I've come across this problem a few times and it's driven me bonkers
trying to figure out the problem and solution, so I thought I'd share
this here.
If you are using iTunes playlists imported into LMS, the CLI commands
for "playlist" using the name of the playlist or URL don't work!
Much thanks ... this is not how I remember this working. I will explore it,
because if confirmed, then no more rescans!
I don't recall this behavior ... rescans were required to listen to any
album. I'll be very happy if I've simply not paid close enough attention,
or didn't wait long enough, for

Hi digimaster,
yes I understand that these are the backups of the old
The folders "Cache" and "prefs" (which were created in the very first
steps) are located in "Multimedia" I think this is where they are
supposed to be, isn't it?

Hi,

That's what I thought and "in my mind" why using "Music Folder" is
significantly slower
I have certainly used browse by folder to access new music - before the
scan has run.
Playing it adds it to the library so can avoid doing a scan - although
there are some limitations I think (for example - am not sure that it
processes a .cue file that indexes into a big MP3 file).

If you put a new album in the folder that LMS scans, then using "Music
Folder" to browse to that new album automatically adds it to the LMS
database without needing to do a scan.
If you use "Discs & Folders" to browse to folders that LMS doesn't scan,
then you can play it, but it doesn't get
hi Guy,
Looks like I will have to scan a new album to test. I'd hate to be the
spreader of "fake" information. :D
Michael could probably answer in a heart beat.

Welcome to the club.
Hi Claus,
questions with bit-perfect belongs to the audiophile part of the Forum.
A RPI is never bitperfect.
cause there is no thing like bitperfect thats a audiophooish nonsense

know it but the word

Greg,
Curious about this:
When I add a new CD, and before a rescan, I use "browse by folder".
It's been my experience that Browse By Folder is based on the scanned
library because it does not do a "read" of the file system when it's used,
but simply offers a different 'view' of the scanned
Hi there
I've purchased a RaspberryPi with the 7 inch Touch Display and am
planning to install a DAC board, etc. to end up with a Squeezebox Touch
replacement.
When I installed piCorePlayer on the RPi I was asked about output and I
could see that ALSA defaults to + 3-4 dB (or something like
My second RPi is a RASPBERRYPI3-MODB-1GB.

Hi guys,
I know I have said this before but I am still only using a 512M RPi1B
for LMS and was originally using the original 256M RPi1B.
Why? Because I want to test the "low ball" solution. I use a "standard"
pCP/LMS install and do regular insitu upgrades.
Now there are some provisos.

Hi ralphy,
Your newly compiled sox v14.4.3 works for me as well. I'm using it on
Windows 10 with a newly
Which rPi did you have. I think the newer models have a more powerful

For another perspective,
My RPi journey ...
I discontinued use of my RPi as an LMS server. I had it connected to both
an external USB3 drive and later a Zyxel NAS326. Configuration relatively
simple and it worked. Mostly.
Why mostly? I have a very large library: 3400 albums (vast majority

I have an rPi 3B+ Running LMS with attached 4TB usb drive, containing
about 100,000 tracks. Works

Thanks! I'm thinking a Pi and an external hard drive would make a very
compact server, and use way less power than my big box PC! I feel a

Thanks again!
All commands seem to work now:

But in the end I'm still there with a naked LMS to be set up ;-(((
Any idea what might be the reason?
Hi Guy's,
I'm in a similar situation, my 2007 vintage ubuntu box is showing it's
age, and I need to prepare for it's demise... The Raspberry PI is an
interesting option, so a couple of quick questions for those using one:
Does pCP run a simplified version of LMS, or is it the full deal? (like
Thanks for the update.
Still need to run through the tests used when first updated sox.exe. If
that's okay, I'll create a PR to get the latest sox.exe into LMS.
