maybe use the same path to the music folder on the new machine ?
If not you may have to do some search and replace in your playlistfiles
, that also easy .

I have no experience with VPNs. If I'm using a router with a VPN server,
will I be able to access my library with mobile devices (both phone and
tablet)? With or without some sort of authentication? How about with
Squeezeplay installed on my desktop computer at work?

Oh, I agree. The Docker solution is superb.
I too have a "retired" TS-119 still running and with LMS installed, but
not running anymore.
My favorite combination though is the Philippe's Castbridge plugin which
I use with different ChromeCast devices I have around the house. The
sound quality
It will be regenerated.
The server is identified by this , so with unique identifiers the
players can know the difference and switching between servers will work
as it should .
I assume you keep the old one around until your satisfied that the new
one works properly

Hardware: 3x Touch, 1x Radio, 2x Receivers, 1 HP Microserver NAS with
Debian+LMS 7.9.0
Music: ~1300 CDs, as 450 GB of 16/44k FLACs. No less than 3x 24/44k
albums..
Remove the old server uuid from the prefs file .
Don't portforward use a vpn solution .
The security in LMS is not good enough to be facing internet , but if
you like to wake up in the middle of the night with one squeezebox
playing metal at 100% volume :) go for it ( there was a tread last year

Hi,
please look @ the file */etc/default/logitechmediaserver*
you need to change the file to:
Code:
SLIMOPTIONS=" --nomysqueezebox"
In my router from linksys it's pretty much self explanatory.
Create a couple users for your needs , with passwords . Create the
config file or what's it called .
And likewise the iPhone app .
You mail the config file to yourself click on the file and the ovpn app
helps you .

No. Whether you register LMS with MySB.com or not, LMS still sees &
connects to MySB.com. If you use any Apps or even just the Internet
Radio default menus in LMS this is using MySB.com.

Or if your router supports third party firmware you can reflash it with
new software ?

It's quite a old NAS but what is the latest version of LMS that works
with this NAS?
I'm having problems rescanning, sometimes it finishes the scan, says
10,000 tracks (correct) but 0 artists. The only way to get it to work is
fully uninstall LMS, then do a full rescan.
I would prefer LMS

My qnap knowledge is a bit old - but your qnap is
Pi3 with piCorePlayer for LMS, files stay on QNAP. It's easy.
*Vortexbox LMS 7.9 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* iThingys/iPeng/Tablets
*Living Room* - SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 - > Celestion Ditton F20s - Zone 2 ->
Sony TA FE 320 -> Sennheiser RS 130 & B P7
*Office* - RPi -> Sony TA FE320 -> Celestion

The migration went incredibly smoothly, and without a full rescan. If I
have a reason to after tonight's nightly scan, I'll do a complete
rescan.
Thanks for the assistance.

Yes, but I'm hesitant to take myself off the path of manufacturer's
firmware updates.

any way to check the os partition is big enough? Or clear any temp
"Your NAS has ~256 mb RAM a rpi3 has 1GB "
Under use the Qnap has plenty of available RAM

This is what I use. Installation of LMS on Pi3 running piCorePlayer.

Secondarily, I'll set the new install's port numbers and the new box's
IP to match the old install for port-forwarding LMS offsite.
Don't port-forward LMS. There are people out there who are having fun
waking you up some night.
