IIRC This sort of problem can happen if LMS is started before network

Click Start, type and select "uninstall a program". Isn't LMS on the
resulting list?

Alternatively, type and select "services". Scroll to LMS and set it for
"Disabled". Remove "Tray Tool" from your Startup program group.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to uninstall from Win 7?

2017-09-19 Thread wus

>From the early days of trying the Squeezeboxes, I have an LMS 7.7.2
running on my Win 7 Laptop. Since I use my NAS as LMS now, I don't need
it on Windows anymore. But I can't seem to find where or how I can
uninstall it. The LMS is running, and I see SQUEEZ~3.exe,
squeezeboxcp.exe and SqueezeTray.exe in the Windows Task Manager. But I
don't find any of these in Programs, where I could uninstall. I also
looked up the computer administration (Autostart etc., I'm not quite
sure about the proper terms here because I have a German Windows) but
didn't find anything either.

How can I uninstall the LMS and all that belongs to it from Windows 7?

The latest beta release is great for me. I'm still buying vinyl, and use
discogs, as I'm recording vinyl I add it to my discogs collection and
then use the discogs database to tag with a specific discogs releaseid
which gets the exact tracks, artwork, tags etc.

I did try Vinylstudio a long time ago when I decided to move away from
Golden Records, which came recommended but was really too simple, and
didn't get track splits right etc.
http://www.nch.com.au/golden/index.html

I'll give it another try in a couple of months when I have time to
really work it. I do use audacity for other audio editing though, so
have learned how to script it to automate most of the manual editing
tasks...

Nice set up.
I have never used Audacity seriously - I found it far too fiddly and
time consuming even though I work with computers constantly.
If you have 1,800 albums to go you really should try VinylStudio (you
can do 5 albums for free). http://www.alpinesoft.co.uk - don't be put
off by its slightly old looking appearance.
It records initially to WAV but allows you to "correct" any clicks etc
without touching the WAV file, before splitting and writing to MP3, FLAC
etc or even direct to Audio CD and also includes lookup for tagging and
cover art.
I rarely have to use mp3tag these days.

Why MP3? Convenience. I don't have audiofile equipment/speakers anywhere
in the house, I'm also 60 years old and my hearing is damaged from too
many years in night clubs. I can play MP3 while running on wireless
headphones(bragi dash), I can play them in the car; I normally though
just play through an LMS to synchronized players around the house and
garage.

The main player in my living room is a Transporter, connected to a BOSE
Lifestyle 5.1 that has the front speakers replaced by Polk Audio. I find
I can't really hear the difference between an MP3 VBS 260k using only
Stereo(not joint stereo) and FLAC. It's certainly true I could get
better speakers, but these fit the bill and are discrete. Ddown in the
basement I have a sync'd Squeezebox controller attached via a Yamaha
receiver with floor standing JBL speakers and I *think* I can hear the
difference but its not enough to make it worth going FLAC.

I use Audacity to record, and have a mostly automated audacity chain to
do the post processing. The first step is to save the entire album as a
WAV file. I'd be happy to share an MP3 track for you to try.

FYI Here is the setup I use minus the laptop which is connected to the
TV and BOSE.

I am not aware of any extension that does what you want and I can't
imagine there is one given that playlists are just text files with
tracks listed in order. If you want to shuffle them you do so at the
player.

Like you I have been digitising my vinyl but to FLAC using VinylStudio
by Alpinesoft. I am 95% through my 600ish collection although there are
a few I want to redo for various reasons.

2 Questions. Why mp3 and what software did you use ?

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Random play from tracks in a specific playlist?

2017-09-19 Thread cathcam

I've never made much use of playlists, I mostly use favorites and play
whole albums, or just song mixes.

However, I've been on a massive vinyl to mp3 conversion, I have
digitized more than 200 albums already and have 10x that to do. I may
finish before I die, I may not :)

What I'd like to do is create fixed playlists of tracks. Some of the
playlists when selected would play sequentially, others
randomly/shuffle. I know I can set a player to play randomly, but I'd
rather embed this into the playlist. is this possible?

I guess not looking at the de-facto m3u spec, but wondered if there were
any LMS specific extensions?
