Ok, is there documentation of how to set this up available somewhere?
TBH: I don't remember... the key parameter you'd have to change during
the configuration of the Perl build is the installation folder. Make
sure you wouldn't install it in the default location, but eg. /opt or
something
I have the same problem on my Mac Minis Server with macOS Sierra. on MAX
OSX El Capitan it was works fine.
Did you follow the instructions which helped the OP?

When I make a new playlist it is not shown in the playlists. These are
album playlistst, so about 10 songs. I now use Family and that fixed the
problem.
You would have to leave the playlists menu and re-enter it to see the
latest additions. Would waiting a minute or two make it show up?

This looks like a bug: If a followed playlist is one of the first
playlists in spotify, then the loading of the playlists takes a long
time. When the followed playlist is moved down in the list of playlists
loading is fast again.
I rather think this is called "caching": once the item has been
