Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] bookmarking state of the content browser (i.e. the clixmlbrowser)

2017-07-15 Thread beyond_music

this is an old thread - but just fyi for those who might find it useful
like me.
The direct-by-url-linking even works with spotty, so bookmarking this
below, takes me directly to playlists, saving a few clicks each time.
Excellent!

Code:

Hi - I actually FTP the Tarball onto the Qnap into the Public Folder,
SSOTS automatically finds it there, so no issues regarding a Browser

i haven't renamed anything, but the Tarball is recognised so I assume
that is not the problem

When I re-install 8.1 that is way I do it so I know this does work

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Sort order in tag "Genre"

2017-07-15 Thread rbruemmer

I changed LC_CTYPE to "POSIX" but no change within LMS.
My LMS still shows "Betriebssystem: Debian - DE - utf8" (and not
POSIX).
And the sort order in Genre has not changed.

Any other ideas?

Regards Rainer

Isn't there a requirement to rename the tarball so that it can be
installed via SSOTS? Can't remember the details, but it's one of the
reasons I now use a Raspberry Pi to run LMS.

Thanks for the reply, but I have tried that ... and several others, was
hoping someone could nail it, and say "that one"

I have tried upgrading from 7.8.1 via SSOTS, and trying installs from
new, but none have taken, this is the usual message

Always able to get back to 7.8.1, which is always a relief, trying to
get to the latest version ready to try the Spotty app

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!

2017-07-15 Thread epoch1970

I wanted to add to a thread I remember of (a user who chooses to
shutdown his/her NAS) but I couldn't find it back.

Right now I a using Logitech Media Server Version : 7.9.1 - 1491339164 @
Tue Apr 4 21:14:44 UTC 2017 on a Pi 2, connected to a 1st-gen WD green
1TB drive via some no-name USB dock.
Of this setup, only the Pi, SD and OS are to be trusted. The adapter and
drive are expected to be flaky and I rarely use them.

I want to report what I think is iffy/unclear behavior of LMS in this
context: it easily "loses" songs (the files are still there, a rescan
brings them back), or -less often- becomes totally numb.

Obviously the drive and/or adapter are responsible for this. LMS with a
decent USB drive or network mount works perfectly.
I know this, but LMS didn't made it clear to me at all. In fact it took
me a little while to understand what was going on.

So I'm not sure there is something that can be done about it, but if a
dedicated log channel could show "gone" files perhaps it could help
users understand their storage or link isn't up to snuff? Or maybe a
paragraph in the README? It's been a while I didn't read it ;)
