Only radio. Not touch. And not needed for radio if installing community
firmware.

Is this not applicable to TOUCH? I have SB Touch and tried step 1 but
cannot do step 2 because "version comparison fix" does not appear in the
list under patch installer. What am I missing. My LMS is updated to
8.2.0.

Thanks again for the quick responses and guidance!

Actually I set up LMS so everything runs from a single microSD including
the library; wouldn't recommend it for a library that changes often and
I always have at least three library backups, including one on a local
USB SSD connected to my daily use PC and an archive in the cloud.

Right now I have three LMS online, one running 7.92, one running 7.94
with library on USB SSD, and the new one running 8.0.1. Picked up a
Samsung EVO Select 256GB microSDXC for $25 on Black Friday for the new
server :)

I'm getting a case for the rPi 4 running 8.0.1 this weekend and will
physically replace the 7.92 LMS direct attached to my firewall/gateway.
I'll pull out the microSD from the 7.92 and keep that as an archive for
now and turn the rPi 3 into a piCorePlayer, replacing an rPi4 currently
running Squeezelite

Haven't patched the Radios yet, that's on my to do for this evening and
then I can cut over completely to the 8.0.1 LMS. So far it seems to be
running great - one small glitch in that I changed to a static IP after
I installed LMS and the plug-ins - the Spotty plug-in v4.4.4 kept a
reference to the previous dynamic IP. Just needed to unclick/remove the
plug in and then add it back in and all is well.

When I get the library tagged properly will build a PiCorePlayer LMS
server and check it out.

no, but you don't need to do that anyhow. I assume the music files are
on a USB drive you connect to the rPi4. Simply shutdown piCore on the
rPi, unplug the USB drive, and plug that USB drive into your computer
and use EasyTag to update your files. When done, just plug back into
your rPi and restart the rPi. You'll probably need to then have LMS
rescan your library to pick up tag changes. (Note, I often have to do a
clear and rescan to get tag only changes picked up, rather than just a
"new and changed".)

I would only update the Radios if they don't work. (it only takes a few
minutes)

I say this because I have a Radio which appears to be working fine,
without the upgrade, running LMS v8.0.1

PS. Although you can use Raspbian (or max2play) I'd suggest that
piCorePlayer is the way to go as it is constantly being developed, is
very well supported (here) and provides easy upgrade of LMS after the
initial install.

Decided to build an new LMS 8.x on an rPI 4b to replace my LMS from 7.9x
on an rPi 3b and wondering if there's one source for installation
guidance? This won't be an upgrade, I'm starting from scratch and will

https://docs.picoreplayer.org/projects/build-simple-lms-server/

copy my library over once LMS 8.0 is installed. I recall seeing
somewhere that the Boom needs to be upgraded; I have 1 Boom and 2

The Boom is fine. The Radio might cause some warning in the log and
elsewhere, but it should work without modification. You can still take
care of this minor issue once everything's set up.

Radios. Also wondering if there's any advantage to using a 4GB board
instead of a 2GB, I have both handy.

I'm using a 2GB version, and about 1GB is free all the time. Sure, if
you have hundreds of thousands of tracks, that might be different.

My configuration is fairly simple - one local library, handful of
standard LMS plug ins plus Spotty and ShairTunes2.
