Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Release date of 7.9.2 beta
BTW: I don't think 7.9.x is labeled beta anywhere. It might be confusing that we have to releases. But I consider 7.9.1 as much a stable release as 7.7.6. The difference is not stable or beta, but "officially supported by Logitech" vs. "Community release". Hi Michael, thats not true. The only Way to get 7.9.2 is here: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9 Some Software Beta Downloads - Version 7.9 Heh... you're right! But that's the nightly builds the DietPi guys consider NOT beta... Well, I guess things are confusing. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Would be great if you could confirm the .deb is working fine. Make sure you pick the right one (arm). BTW: I don't think 7.9.x is labeled beta anywhere. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Release date of 7.9.2 beta
If you're interested in the DietPi response you can find it 'here' (https://dietpi.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=12=2041=16317#p16314). Briefly, they aren't going to move to nightlys unless they have some additional testers. More importantly, they say there is *no* reason why you can't install the latest .deb package in their distribution. I had done this in the past but things got screwy. Might not have even been their package given the power of sudo. As a result, I have downloaded and installed the latest release and will see how that works. audiomike's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=67968 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110107 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Release date of 7.9.2 beta
I do realize LMS is largely a labor of love and I am grateful for it; however, I don't understand why after many months of development LMS 7.9.2 can't be considered a new beta build and updated semi-regularly as such. It is a beta build. It is a nightly. It is stable. Call it what you want. It's really only the DietPi's dev's understanding (or lack thereof) preventing him from "allowing" his users to use it. Giving it a different name won't make it any more stable. In theory 7.9.2 is just another bugfix release for 7.9.x. The dev should accept 7.9.x. FWIW: bumping the version number, adjusting update checkers, repositories, build systems etc. is about a day of work. I was tempted to do it recently, but really... it's mostly a lot of work, with little added value. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

PiCorePlayer does everything you have highlighted and is an actively maintained Squeezebox/LMS specific distro. Try it. Im sure you have a spare SD card. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Release date of 7.9.2 beta
No. I was looking into this only today and it seems Dietpi runs a script to check if the system is working properly. Although LMS starts it then stops almost immediately as the version is not recognised. Developers won't or can't do anything at the moment due to various bug fixes but they also will not countenance agreeing to install anything (nightly builds) that are not stable. I think they made an exception with 7.9.1 beta because of demand but until 7.9.2 goes beta they won't be doing anything. Dietpi is as consumer orientated as a Debian device can be so alternative is to install another flavour of the OS if you need regular updates. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Release date of 7.9.2 beta
I'm running LMS on an RPi using the DietPi distribution whose goal is to be easy to run. As a result, they only recommend updating using the packages they release and, in turn, are only supporting LMS 7.9.1 which DietPi is Debian based. You should be able to install any nightly you want, no? -- -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
