Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Media Count Discrepancy
If UNC path doesn't work for LMS in your case, just map the music drive on both PC's to the same drive letter: - LMS PC: M-drive points to \\NAS\MusicFolder - MusicBee computer: M-drive points to \\NAS\MusicFolder This way, in theory at least, as I don't know the way this program works, MusicBee will create the playlists with the "absolute" reference (m:\artist\album\song.mp3) instead of the "relative" reference (\\server\musicfolder\artist\album\song.mp3), which will be identical to what LMS sees. That is actually what you need to try and obtain: LMS & MusicBee seeing exactly the same thing from an OS point of view, accessing it in exactly the same way. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Media Count Discrepancy
Here's the final (manual) scan results. The playlists are back in the scan. And the number of tracks showing in the control panel has once again jumped to about 20k more than the actual number of tracks. So the tracks referenced in the playlist are definitely being added to the total count of tracks. Now that I understand the reasons for the mismatched count, I will leave the scanning to "look for new and changed media files" and let it run automatically once every twenty-four hours. And just a note - before you tell me that there were 92 playlists originally and now there are 91 discovered and 89 scanned, I deleted one. And two of them are MusicBee playlists that are in the playlist directory, but are only readable by MusicBee. So it's not an issue. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Media Count Discrepancy
The "problem" with the playlists is actually quite simple. Let me detail it for you: LMS: - Lives on Win10 box - Sees music files on a mapped drive. This is considered a "local" file, as in "This disc is physically attached to this PC". The way in which it's attached is transparent/invisible MusicBee: - Lives on another Win10 box - Modifies/creates playlists with UNC path (\\server-ip\share). This is considered a "remote" file, as in "we don't have a physical connection to this disc" Scanner: - Starts of with the music files it considers as "local", being those on the mapped drive - Then it finds the playlists, where music files are being pointed to as "remote" files - It tries to access those files, obviously succeeds, and adds them to the results This has nothing to do with LMS in itself, it's really an OS thing. Mapped drives are considered local resources, whereas giving a UNC path is always considered as being remote. To solve this issue, and still be able to scan your playlists, just replace the "mapped drive" reference in LMS with the same UNC-path you find in your playlists. All the music files are on a NAS. There are no music files anywhere else. Not even the music listed in the playlists, which as you know, are only text files, which point to the actual music file on the NAS. My music manager is MusicBee. It lives on another Win10 Pro box. Whenever there's a change to a playlist, MusicBee automatically updates the playlist. Which is exported to the box where LMS and the playlists live. The path referencing each track in a playlist is mapped to the NAS. There are no music files whatsoever on that machine. I'm not sure you do know what's going on. I have 28 playlists that point to music files on the USB drive that LMS scans, total number of tracks in those 28 playlists is 3,557 (I added them up), these 3,557 tracks *are not added* to the total number of tracks in the scan. My playlist scan took 22 seconds, in the screenshot of your aborted scan your playlist scan took over 27 minutes, there's something going on that you're not aware of. My belief is the paths in your playlists point to music files on another drive. I just pointed my Windows 10 server at the same library that my Pi uses. Windows total tracks 56,269 Pi total tracks. 56,286 Total albums is the same on both. I have no clue which tracks are missing in the Windows library [emoji3] I also had two playlists on the Pi server which I removed and they didn't change the total tracks. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Media Count Discrepancy
Anyway, phred's question was why doesn't the reported total number of tracks correspond to the number or tracks on the drive and reported in the database. In my case the total number of tracks = the sum of the number of tracks I have on the hard drive + the number of tracks I have in my Spotify library. In my latest scan, which was a clear and rescan, I see the following. In *Library Statistics* Total Tracks = 41,893 In *Spotty* Total Tracks = 6,264 In *Media Scan Details* 35,629 new music files were scanned See my earlier post. I think that is a possible explanation for the discrepancy. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Media Count Discrepancy
It occurs to me that maybe the "Total Tracks" includes tracks from streaming services as well as the local library? I did a rescan on a backup server and it shows; Total tracks 41,855 Scanned files 35,607 Spotty tracks 6,248 The value for total tracks is the sum of scanned files plus Spotty tracks. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Media Count Discrepancy
I can't say why the scan report has such a high initial track count, but I have always assumed that the discovering files/directories count will be higher than the final number of tracks, because it includes the folder structure.
