I installed latest server 7.9.2 from 10/19/18 on a new Mac running
10.13.6. I repeatedly was hitting the fatal error:
[18-11-02 22:06:24.5305] main::main (331) Error: Failed when running
main scan: [Malformed UTF-8 character (fatal) at
/Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server
If it's of any help, I have no problems with "Ysaÿe" with LMS running on
a QNAP.
QLMS 7.9.1@1.07.3 (digimaster) / QNAP 469L QTS 4.3.4

I cannot reproduce the error now. I replaced "Louÿs" by "Louys", and the
scanning went through. When I restored the previous orthography, the
scanner error didn't occur.
I bet it will once you do a full wipe & rescan? I don't think anything
has ever been done to fix this...

A bug keeps reappearing on the macOS scanner: it chokes on a track with
the following TITLE
"La flûte de Pan (Pierre Louÿs)".
It dislikes the umlaut over the letter "y".
Do you get any error message? Would you have a sample file to upload?
