Hi, Mark, Rod, Fer! Hi everyone!
Now I realize that 45 deg is the
solution to the 'maximum difference between North and South'
problem.
I liked the idea from Rod and Fer of truncating an
sphere to show the Sun's movement. And of course
the results from Mark are smashingly

I have followed with considerable interest, amusement, and now increasing
irritation, the various emails on the changes introduced by Daniel.
Like many others who work for governments, large corporations, universities
etc, I have been through a couple of organi

Well, I must say (despite all these complaints!) that I much prefer the
'New System'. I suppose it's because I think of the list as an input of
Anselmo et All,
also I have obtained to the same conclusions of Fer ( and
others) ( Latitude =

For curiosity I attach the graph of the daily
mean number of hours of illumination of the vertical plane at different
Latitudes.
The plane is illuminated for a period (mean) of

Hi Tony (& All I guess),
I just don't understand this new change to the "reply".
I do not belong to other lists so I was never confused
by "reply" to the one person who sent it or "reply all"
to everyone and the list.
Now we are already getting many unwanted personal
responses.
It seems you ju
Hello everybody, some time ago, I suggested to the list-owner to implement
the system as it is now, similar to many other lists, so maybe it is because
of my suggestion he changed it, I do not know, but certainly I prefer it
this way, his address is not so simple, & individual contact is allways

Dear all,
of course I can change the reply style back to what was before. I
changed
the style because some people on the list asked me to do so. The current
style is widely used on other mailing lists. There are pros and cons
Dear John and all,
My rule-of-thumb for the choice of a compressed graphics format is:
Photos (characterized by hue and intensity gradients): use JPG.
Drawings (characterized by patches of constant hue and intensity):
use GIF.
When in doubt, I sometimes compare both options.

A good user interface means that you have to do (and think) the least in
most of the cases. So if you want to react on a message just hit
reply.
Up till now I had to think: in this particular mailinglist I have to hit
the reply all and delete one address.
I actually asked this opt

Rod,
At the moment I sent my message about Anselmo's question I received your
message.
At the time I started with gnomonics, some more than 20 years ago, one of
the things I did was making an instrument of simple plastic materials that
exactly does what you described. That little instrument was a
