Hi Ralf
There are no hard and fast sizing rules as such - typically customers
have a chat to the local reseller or Sun contact and find out a bit more
about the application, user mix, etc.
Based on my experience, if you've got a V240 and are only running the
Citrix client in Controlled Access Mod
Craig -
Not sure. Is there a guide or rules on what the setup
should be? I mean, SF240 1-100 users OK, what will
happened if I add user 101 to the system? Are there
any guidelines from SUN? What is your take on it.
Your recommendation? I know how to scale my hardware
on the backend, no problem.
Well, you're not going to get 500 users on the a SF240. The tweaks in
the install guide (also pay attention to the multihead section should
you use that).
Are you just going to do full screen windows via Controlled Access Mode?

I'm installing the sun ray server on a SF240 and
Citrix on Dell server. Any tunning issues on the
solaris/sun ray side, when going from say 2 users to
500 users in the real world? Like /etc/system file
etc... to make the entire setup run at best
performance?

I was assuming Presenta
Are you trying to run Presentation Server for UNIX? If so you will need
to talk to your VAR.
On the other hand, if you just want to let Sun Ray users connect to a
Windows server then:
1. Is there some reason you cannot use native Windows Terminal Services
and rdesktop? See http://www.rdesktop.
The correct way to get a citrix license is to find your local var. They
should be able to get you a 30-90 day demo whether through ESD
(Electronic Software Dist) or by getting you a CD. Most likely this
will be Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 (their newest product)

Russ - I'm not sure what software I need to download
in order to make this work. I'm at the Citrix site
and I have no clue what to get. I have a windows 2003
server already setup and ready to go. This is the
first time I try to install/setup a Citrix env.
Which are the citrix products I need?

I have not had a chance to play with version 4 but previous versions
would run for 35 days before the license had to be activated. To get a
copy you will probably need to contact Citrix or your local VAR.
Both products work fine side-by-side.

Hello - Maybe a little out of contents.
I would like to test out citrix presentation server.
Any idea if you can get a Citrix demo license for 30
days or so?
I'm trying to test out citrix and a Sun Ray setup.
Any help or pointers would be great...
Thanks
