Dear Listers -
I am now able to access the Canon digital camera via USB tether.
Ended up using Shirlock to weed out all Canon related files and reinstall
the Camera software for OS 9.
(Turns out none of this is necessary if running X.)
Didn't have to change/add/delete any Apple USB related exte

I have a fresh install of OS 9.1, and a generic USB
card that does work.
The only active extensions I have for USB support are:
USB Device Extension 1.4.6
USB Support 1.4.6
I've turned the rest off.
perhaps your USB Support 1.4.1 could be the culprit?
