[freenet-support] Getting started

Hello,

I'd like to contribute to Freenet, but know very little about how
the Internet works. I've installed the program, but Firefox does
not connect to http://localhost:/ when I try to start it. How
do I begin using Freenet?

[freenet-support] UNINSTALLER

2006-09-07 Thread urza9...@gmail.com
You do realize that on Limewire ANYONE can see what you search, what
you download, and who you are, right? Limewire makes you create a
username and gives out your IP address. I have found people's exact
street address with just a username and IP. It's not that hard.
Freenet, on the other hand, protects everything.
Oh, and limewire has no way of publishing websites, no distributed
data store, and no message boards.

[freenet-support] UNINSTALLER

2006-09-07 Thread Matthew Toseland
It depends what you want it for. If you have specific bugs to report,
features you would like, or problems with freenet, we would like to
know. If you don't want to use freenet, please unsubscribe using the
link provided at the end of each mail to support, and please have
another look when 0.7.0 is released. Thank you.

[freenet-support] Freenet 0.7 build 972 *fixes security bug with fetch box*

2006-09-07 Thread Matthew Toseland
Freenet 0.7 build 972 is now available. Please upgrade ASAP. This build
fixes a security bug with the fetch-key box. If you put in
"/www.whatismyip.com", then your browser would go to www.whatismyip.com,
without any warning! (Because we would redirect ?key=/ to
//; now we check that the key actually is a key and refuse it
otherwise). This build also contains a possible fix for the "output
bandwidth goes crazy" bug. Please test and report bugs. Anyone who finds
a security bug gets a free darknet connection to me. :)

You do realise that freenet and limewire are not trying to solve the
same problem, right?

Freenet is trying to do highly annonymous communication and publishing.

Limewire is trying to do fast and not nearly(I'm not even sure if they
try to) as annonymous filesharing.
