Hi Steven,

Can you give us some additional information?

And maybe check whether you can find an answer in the knowledge base?

[freenet-support] unable to install fnet1474

2016-06-15 Thread Steven Richard
Fnet crashed after the attack.  The only thing I could do was uninstall.  I downloaded and installed 1474, however it rolled back to 1459.  I uninstalled and reinstalled with several different versions several times, all resulting in no node connections and usually running 1459 regardless of the install.  Please help if you can. Thank you.

Re: [freenet-support] Unable to install Freenet on Windows XP without .NET

2015-12-13 Thread שלום עליכם
Hi xor,

Could you also make a portable Freenet version that can be installed
manually without any 3rd party framework dependant installer? I really
don't need any tray icon but the Freenet itself. I can run it manually or
make my own script that will run it on the startup. Another option is
return Windows support into the IzPack based installer that will be able to
install Freenet by the portable way, i.e. without a tray icon and other not
mandatory decorations like that.

Re: [freenet-support] Unable to install Freenet on Windows XP without .NET

2015-12-12 Thread xor
Hello,
thanks for your mail to the support list and taking care of filling a bug for
it.

While I can understand your concern of requiring both Java and .NET probably
being a mistake, it is actually intentional: The .NET framework is required
for the new tray icon which has recently been developed. Java would not have
been suitable for implementing it.

BUT there is good news: When this was implemented, I requested the developer
to at least chose a .NET version which is old enough to still be available on
Windows XP. So if you do install the latest .NET framework available on XP,
the Windows installer should accept that.

Greetings

[freenet-support] Unable to install Freenet on Windows XP without .NET

2015-12-11 Thread שלום עליכם
Hi all,

I've an old but still working properly computer with Windows XP SP3 32-bit
and JDK 7u80. I want to install the Freenet on this computer but I can't.
The Windows installer needs the .NET framework to be installed and I don't
want to install .NET on this computer. There is also a Java (IzPack based)
installer but it fails with a ResourceNotFoundException exception.

I made a new bug report about this issue:
https://bugs.freenetproject.org/view.php?id=6723

Could you fix this bug in a near future? I just can't wait for years as it
is in case of other bugs.
Or maybe you can help me to fix it by myself. I know Java but I'm not
familiar with Freenet code and with its installer code.

Thank you

Thanks for reporting this. I'm unable to reproduce the problem on my
Windows 8.1 system. Can you give more details about your system, or what
you did to encounter the problem?

Thanks for trying Freenet. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. A
recent change in the Windows installer may have fixed this bug, so please
uninstall and try again, from the button on the website. Please let us know
whether or not this works. Thanks! I have CC'ed our Windows expert.

Freenet Java Reference Implementation

Freenet is free software which lets you publish and obtain information on
the Internet without fear of censorship. To achieve this freedom, the
network is entirely decentralized and publishers and consumers of
information are anonymous. Without anonymity there can never be true freedom
of speech, and without decentralization the network will be vulnerable to
attack.

You have to use Sun's JVM :

$ sudo aptitude install sun-java6-jre
$ sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun

[freenet-support] Unable to install Freenet 0.7 on Ubuntu 8.04 and Java 1.5

2008-07-27 Thread Avi Kak

Hello:

I am unable to install Freenet 0.7 on Ubuntu 8.04
and Java 1.5. I also tried with Java 1.6, but I
get the same error message.

After downloading freenet07.tar.gz and doing the
usual things, I executed

./run.sh start

in the freenet directory. Each time I get the
following error message

-

Enabling the auto-update feature
Detecting tcp-ports availability...

[freenet-support] Unable to install in China

2006-04-05 Thread A C
I am located in China, where access to Freenet downloads are blocked. I use
a proxy so am able to download through that, but the installer does not
include all of the files and tries to download those itself. This does not
go through the proxy, so it is blocked.

This will prevent almost all Chinese from using the software (and they need
it the most), unless they have the savvy, time, and energy to download all
of the files by themselves and figure out how to put them in the right
place.

Is there a package that includes all of the necessary files for a simple
install on windows? How about posting some instructions to help people like
me install? How about a torrent seed for this build?

Thanks.
