Hi Andy, Thanks for a feedback -- I just want to mention again that those are pure qtopia images -- both kernel and rootfs and without any consecutive opkg upgrades, so I guess there should be no way I could add any modules, unless they are in the shipped qtopia image, thus should be addressed by Trolltech people I guess ;-) I don't think I saw similar messages on OM2007.2 (there was some garbage on text console whenever I was powering that image down last time, but it went too fast for me to comprehend what was on the screen ;-)) > > Hm this looks like the kernel has built-ins for these drivers, and later > we come and try to insert a module for the same driver. Read the Wiki: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Booting_from_SD Make sure the kernel you're using has ext3 built into it. Using ext2 has been suggested for the microSD because it will wear it less. In that case be sure ext2 is in the kernel. I know the kernel from 7-22-2008 has ext2 support in it. Re: Battery discharging after long time connected to the power charger ?
Also to note: I found the Freerunner not charging (actually it was discharging because it was on) when it was attached to a USB port on the dock station of a laptop. I moved the connection to a USB on the laptop and it started charging. I think some USB ports have lower power or maybe next to none. The wall charger charges up the device quick - like in 2 hours .. as is stated in the wiki. Re: Stereo Jack Quirks
Hi Karthik, this sounds like a mechanical issue to me. Seems like on the phone-jack side only one channel delivers a sound signal. If you pull it out this one contact connects to both channels of your earphone. The result is, that you hear mono-sound on both sides of your earphone. Try to change the setting not just for volume or device, but for balance. Choose a soundsource, that produces a traceable stereo-signal. If you only hear one channel on both ears, then in my opinion a hardware-failure is the the only conclusion. Then you should bring your telephone to the shop, where you bought it. regards, Felix 2008/7/29 Karthik Kumar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Hi, > > I noticed that pushing the stereo jack in until there isn't a visible > connector gap doesn't output any sound at all. Capricious USB connection
Hi there, I noticed several times a problem when connecting the FR to a host PC. When it happens, the (Linux) host won't recognize the Neo as a network device, and -- more annoying -- the Neo won't fast-charge. The only solution I have found is to reboot the FR (and sometimes it isn't enough, last time I had to remove the battery). (I tried with several machines so, a priori, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the host PC.) On the host, the kern logs look like this: kernel: hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 5 kernel: usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 9 kernel: usb 4-1: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 10 kernel: usb 4-1: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 11 kernel: usb 4-1: device not accepting address 11, error -71 kernel: usb 4-1: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 12 kernel: usb 4-1: device not accepting address 12, error -71 kernel: hub 4-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1 Have you ever seen this? Qtopia Questions/Bugs/Suggestions
I'm currently running Qtopia on my FreeRunner. Version: 4.3.2 snapshot 07221045 Submitted Date 2008/7/24 1. Question: When going into the System Info on the phone it says Qtopia Version 4.3.3, built by lpotter@ on July 22. Which is it, 4.3.2 or 4.3.3? 2. Bug: Speed Dial has no visual feedback of selection. Clicking icons on the home screen, Main Menu, and sub-menus gives feedback in the way of a colored highlight or enlarging icon. When clicking anything in the Speed Dial, nothing happens until the program pops up. The top item in my Speed Dial list always stays highlighted. 3. Question: In Power Management, it is possible to set Suspend faster than Display Off or Dim. Is it really supposed to allow that? 4. Suggestion: When playing music, if you place a call, the music stops until the call is finished. Cool. However, it would be better (IMHO) if you PAUSED the music, so the song doesn't restart at the beginning when the call is done. 5. Suggestion: When playing music, if you get a call, the music stops. It would be slick if the music volume simply dropped to 10% or so while the phone was ringing -- both at once. Then, if the person chose to ignore the call, the music volume ticks back up to where it was. If they choose to answer the call, pause the music until the call is done. 6. Bug: I have one MP3 that Media Player insists on playing in Chipmunk mode -- 2x speed. It plays fine on my desktop. Now that I look at it, it is the only MP3 I have encoded at 64 Kbps. Hmmm 7. Question: When playing music, after the screen dims/turns off due to Power Management settings, it undims/turns on when a song changes. Is this the desired behavior? I dunno how to do this. In alsamixer, in the capture view, I see several controls, like e.g. PCM, Mic1, Mic2, Capture. I've put them all to 100% and unmuted them. mixer settings for voice recording?
hello, I've got my brandnew neo freefrunner just yesterday, and have a question about it. I logged into the ... device via ssh and copied some file to the audio device, like "dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/dsp bs=1k count=100" This will produce some noise, as expected. Now I'd like to copy some data from the microphones, and I first check what's coming in from the device using "od" like in: od -x /dev/dsp but this only produces a permanent stream of 0x80 - a flat, silent line (He's dead, Jim!) I played around with alsamixer settings, un-muted all entries, be they playback or capture, and maxed the volume. I randomly changed entries which allow multiple selection, e.g. Mic1, Mic2, Mic3 and so on. The maximum I got was a high-pitched sinus-sound (obviously resonance frequ.), but the output of "od -x" never changed. So, what is required to make the dsp-device delive audio-data? Q: The hardware does support this, right? Q: Is it a audio-driver problem, e.g. the alsa-device-driver for the chip doesnt support audio capturing? Q: Is it a problem with my mixer settings? Re: Signature Check Failed on opkg update
Hey Bob, When I first installed the matchbox keyboard, I had to go find the updated libfreetype6 on the web. If you google it you should be able to find it for our phone with no problem. You'll have to install it manually, but that would be opkg install force-update libfreetype6 (i think that's the correct syntax). . . .shawn bob slappy wrote: > I am having this same problem, however my phone is NOT still downloading the > files. opkg update will not work. > > I can ping yahoo.com, so I am pretty sure dns is working, however when I > tried to update the keyboard > (http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Switching_Keyboards#Matchbox_keyboard) I get a > dependency problem with libfreetype6.
