Oh okay... sorry, my mistake... never actually had to fiddle that far
into the line, so I wasn't expecting to have to go there now...
I'll try this tomorrow, since I'm not at that site anymore... thanks
for clarifying on this one.

He said upstream. You know, the next router / modem in line.

upstream arp cache.
that means the arp cache on the machines connected to the pfSense
machine, not the pfSense machine itself.

wouldn't the ARP cache be cleared by rebooting the pfsense box ?? (i
rebooted 3 or 4 times)
if not, do I have to clear it using the arp command on the console, or
via the gui (couldn't find the arp-cache in gui, so I assume that I
have to do this in the command console ?)
thanks for your quick

How suicidal must one be to run it? I.e., will it skin the cats
and burn

I backed up my config.xml, took another computer, added the same network
configuration... installed pfSense 1.2.1 (build of today).
Restored config.xml, re-installed packages (within restore function)...
and the new config worked fine (including ipsec vpn and all)... but

ADSL is Asymetric AND ALSO half-duplex
SDSL @1.5mbs is Symmetirc but only HALF-duplex
I disagree with that.
ADSL means Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line
Asymmetric means, that Up- and Downstream rates are different, usually
downstream is (much) faster than upstream. And all ADSL variation

I think you mean "asymmetric" rather than "half duplex".
Hi Paul.
I do make mistakes, but I did in fact mean to say BOTH asymmetric AND
half-duplex. In other words:
ADSL is Asymetric AND ALSO half-duplex

To my knowledge, ADSL and SDSL (and most other DSL variants) are all
full duplex.
They use different frequency spectrum for the upstream and downstream
components, and can thus transmit and receive at the sa

But it is available in packets...
And via console or alone? I want easy way to provide to clients acces to
my VPN. Vpn client export utility is my best friend. How can I do
without installing 1.3?

My bet is that either are you using a SATA or a large size IDE disk.
AFAIK this can help:
Entering the C/H/S manual.
Switching to a small old IDE disk.
Switching HD vendor.
