Can't connect to Pidgin with satellite connection
Hi, Ever since installing HughesNet satellite Internet a week ago, I have been unable to connect to Pidgin. Each time I try, I get the following message: Connection error from Notification server: Connection refused. I know that my password is correct. I called HughesNet tech support and was told that there shouldn't be a problem connecting to any IMs. I would very much appreciate any ideas to overcome this problem. Thanks! Re: File transfer failures
MSN file transfers are currently known to be broken. I don't know the details, I don't know if we know what the exact problem is, I don't know if we know what the fix is. -Etan ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? Use this link: http://pidgin.im/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support
Re: Connecting to IRC - Undernet Server
thanks it worked, and like ya said after a little while i got booted and reconnect. If you can figure out a way to keep it connected, please let me know. If you open the Help-Debug Window when you attempt to connect you should see it indicate some number of failures (to get your hostname or to get your ident etc.). It should then prompt you to send a command to the server, to do this you must open an IM window (to anyone) on that account and send the command indicated. That should, if my quick test is any indication, allow you to connect for the next little bit. I have no idea how long that authorization will last or what you can do to work around this in the future (short of fixing/installing whatever is needed to get the previously mentioned failures to go away). -Etan ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? You'll need to ask them about that or check their website/FAQ for information. It may be enough to install an identd server (but lord I hope not). I don't intend on spending any more time looking into this personally and I don't use undernet. -Etan ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe? Re: Pidgin Ubuntu, D-Bus, remote X-server Windows
libindicate is some Ubuntu thing it looks like so this may be something you need to take up with the Ubuntu or libindicate people. However, this mostly looks to me like your SSH session simply does not have the necessary DBus session stuff enabled/activated/exported/etc. and that setting that up to have the session bus information from an existing login on the server (which has that information) or starting a new session for your SSH connection (if that's the right thing to do, I'm not sure) might be enough to fix this. Even if that fixes it this certainly sounds like something you should complain to the libindicate/Ubuntu people about since I really don't think this should be such a fatal error. -Etan ___ Support@pidgin.im mailing list Want to unsubscribe?
