Re: Not getting installation done for pidgin mobile

2019-06-20 Thread Shlomi Fish
Hi Ewald,

I cannot find a "mobile" version either on https://pidgin.im/download/ or on
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=pidgin+mobile=v140-1=web . Where do you see
that?

Not getting installation done for pidgin mobile

2019-06-20 Thread E. Hauck (GMX)
Hello,

I could download the mobile version of pidgin (2.13) but the installation
cannot be started on my windows 10 phone. No installation request button
appears. And no double click on smartphones anyway.

What can I do?

Thanks and regards

Ewald

I use Xabber on Android, although it's XMPP only. It works with OTR if
you want that but, as I recall, does not allow you to set a proxy.

I think the problem is that chat is once again a potential revenue and
advertising stream and the real key to utilising this is to keep control
of the protocol and keep others out. This means that it gets harder and
harder for protocol-neutral third party chat programs like Pidgin to
'compete'.

I use BBM myself; it may not be open source but it's developed on Linux, cross
platform, and secure communication between individuals and groups.

Best,

If not, what app do ya'll use on your phones?

I've had a far better experience with Conversations than with anything
else.

Conversations is not multi-protocol (XMPP only).
You can try Trillian and IM+

In the future, you can search the mailing list archives for these sorts
of questions too.

To be fair, using mailing lists for end-user support is very user-unfriendly
when web forums provide a much better option.

But out of sheer curiosity, how do you suggest zeke should search the archives?

(Yes, I know that
https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Apidgin.im+inurl%3Apipermail%2Fsupport+android
works, but that's like hammering a nail with a screwdriver)

Pidgin Mobile

2016-09-13 Thread Zeke
I'm sure this has been previously asked, but I wasn't able to find an
answer in the FAQ or Google.

Chat apps on mobile are starting to feel like Windows Circa 2004 with
the billion apps out there and I'd love to utilize the unifying power or
Pidgin to combine them all into one interface (if that's even possible).

Thanks in Advance.

Pidgin Mobile Please

2013-02-28 Thread Wavelabs Studios
Hi,

I am requesting to have Pidgin on iPOD, iPhone and iPAD.
Some other people made some other deviations of Pidgin, but they either crash,
dont work, dont work properly, or just plain garbage.

So I am asking to please make a Mobile version of Pidgin.
This way, it would be a official version.
Thank you.

What is a 'pocket pc' exactly? I run on an Asus EeePC 900 FreeBSD
8-CURRENT and Pidgin. Works just fine.

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.

Most of these platforms require porting of additional libraries first
before Pidgin or its components can run. We have no plans to bring
Pidgin to any of these platforms at this time.

Based on information we have, Palm WebOS (used in the Palm Pre) includes
libpurple, however, and uses it for its built-in IM services.
