update.. as of this date 12/14/17
I logged on to AX, and was able to make a payment
nothing changed with SM2.48, or my computer.so
one can assume that AX changed their site
very happy now !!

www.login.americanexpress - allow me to log in OK
after it accepts my info it goes to:
global.americanexpress.com/x
at which point it shows just a blank page
