It should crash quite often and autocomplete doesn't work. If you run into
trouble
check if its a known problem.
The known problems for 2.49 are tracked in:

As of now 2.50a1 still suffers from the same problems.

Same extra speed as found in 2.4a1 ... still some niggling trouble
displaying graphics in popular social media sites... but that's sorta
fine with me at the moment... ;~)
