Not updating the version date for Gecko in the user agent string is part
of Mozilla's plan to obscure user characteristics. Web servers sniffing
user data supposedly find it harder to track individual users. See bug
#1329996 at .

I prefer relying on the Secret Agent extension from

Firefox does not show minor version numbers in its UA string.

52.5.3 ESR:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/52.0

Firefox/52.0 SeaMonkey/2.49.2

As you can see almost identical but as usual google and others will do
incorrect user agent sniffing.

Boolmarks privacy/encryption add-on availability

2018-01-24 Thread Rubens via support-seamonkey

Hello,

Does anybody know any bookmarks privacy/encryption add-on for Seamonkey ?

The two most known ones (Private Bookmarks and Link Passwords) are compatible
with Firefox only.

Tried to convert them to SeaMonkey using the Seamonkey Extension Converter
webpage
but the conversion fails saying they don't have an "install.rdf" file in their
.xpi file packages.

Thanks in advance,

Or you could have switched authentication method to OAuth2. SeaMonkey

Probably because it's an old version of SM.

I'm using the latest release version, 2.49.1.

Hmm, the other day I got a security notice from Google about "We’ve
upgraded the Security Checkup to give you specific, personalized
recommendations to strengthen the security of your Google Account." and
when I checked it out it had to do with giving/disabling App Permissions
to some apps. Could it be that? Log into the Web UI of your GMail
account. Once you're logged in, go to
https://myaccount.google.com/security-checkup. Onec at the Security
Checkup page, click on Third Party Access and make sure it's on. If
that's already on, go to the Settings for your GMail account and click
the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab and make sure POP Download is not set
to Disable POP.

I see. Well, in that case I should probably ask in the firefox group why
they don't show the minor numbers. As 52.6 is the one with the Spectre
fixes. So 52.0 is a different version from 52.6. It would be better to
say just 52.
