Message headers return to bold

2016-04-12 Thread Bruce Hagen
After marking messages as read in a newsgroup, if I leave the group and come
back every message header is bold again. Just reset Windows 10, but backed
up SeaMonkey with MozBackup and all newsgroups came back as expected. Any
thoughts?

It definitely would not. It would raise the bar for changing a lot of

Is it about users "shooting themselves in the foot" or about giving
users accessiblity to control over their software?

I'm for accessibility. And for letting users shoot themselves in the
foot. I do it all the time. I accept the risk, embrace it, enjoy it,
and blame no one for the bullet holes in my feet. It's how I've learned
over many decades and amassed a rather goodly pool of knowledge that
many take advantage of now.

Shield me too much and you deny me knowledge. And my ability to help
others.

It's not a toaster, it's a freaking computer. It's not an appliance, it
does require more knowledge to use than just pushing a button.

Those of us who know more help those who don't have the knowledge. Deny
us that and more are hurt.

Google gmail did not respect my retention parameter

2016-04-12 Thread Ray_Net

I read my gmail box by using SM from pop.gmail.com.
My option is: "Leave message on the server"
The gmail-box don't care about my SM setting - the messages are never
accessibles by another pop-reader.

BUT are still presents when I access the gmail-box thru his website.

less secure apps

2016-04-12 Thread Rick Merrill
"Google wants email clients to implement OAuth2.0-based authentication,
and has stated they intend to cause disruption (hassles) for users that
authenticate (login) using a username/password with the POP, IMAP, or
SMTP protocol. OAuth 2.0 requires the email client to launch a browser
to display a HTML form provided by Google (which can do anything they
want) , and then use a token that it returns."

I just ran into this and could not receive gmail via SeaMonkey. The
solution in my case was to enable "less secure apps".

Can anyone explain what this is all about?

Yes. Even with Firefox. It is caused by Geolocation. Weather.com

What is work properly? Being able to chose Share, Never Share or Not
Now, which means having it enabled in about:config.

See http://i.imgur.com/SsBxen6.gif as an example.

Well, it does require geo.enabled set to true in about:config, and
choosing "Never for This Site" works for me.

If users want to break their applications by making changes to
abut:config, they should be willing to live with the consequences. Use
another weather site.

Personally I think about:config should be inaccessible to users in
release versions.

SeaMonkey does not need to be dumbed down. There is too much of that
in Firefox now. That was the reason I switched to SeaMonkey.

So why dumb it down by setting geo.enabled to "false"?

Making about:config inaccessible would definitely dumb it down.

Paul B. Gallagher wrote on 11/04/2016 09:29:
For months now, I've been going to
and printing out the puzzles for my amusement (I prefer to work on
paper because I can make notes that the electronic version doesn't
accept).

All of a sudden, now that I've upgraded to SM 2.40, the puzzles print
with all the cells blank, even though they display normally (with some
cells filled). This is true both for my hard-copy printers and for my
Adobe Acrobat driver. As you can imagine, a 9×9 grid with no clues is
useless.

Steps to replicate:

1) At the linked page, click the "Print" button under the puzzle.

2) Choose either "Print regular" or "Print large" (the "Print an
Ebook..." option requires a purchase; I haven't tested that).

3) When the printer selection dialog pops up, choose a printer or let
it use your default.

It work for me
I have done a test:
Select inside the page including:
"Here is the puzzle. Good luck!" AND "Hard Puzzle 2,694,901,521 --
Select a puzzle..."

Do a Copy.
Open WORD from microsoft - do a Paste
Then I can print the page.

But I tried to select all of the WORD page then copy then paste into
notepad.

All is present except the grid with the numbers. Strange ...isn't it ?
