Should that work ok with Seamonkey? YES I should copy what's inside this directory:" C:\Users\tit_p\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\Profiles\ey8r9gln.default\ Or you copy C:\Users\tit_p\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\ note "tit-p" is my user-account-name. In addition to "tit-p" isn't "ey8r9gln" user unique? Yes, that's correct.Except that's not user unique but the default "profile-unique" You should copy after or 2 levels before because this strange string is present in the text of the profiles.ini file located in the SeaMonkey directory like this: Path=Profiles/ey8r9gln.default ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Re: G-Mail Security
Original Message My usual POP access to my G-Mail was blocked this AM, with a message referring me to the following explanation: If an app or device doesn’t meet our security standards, Google will block anyone who tries to sign in from that app or device. Because these apps and devices are easier to break into, blocking them helps keep your account safe. Some examples of apps that do not support the latest security standards include: The Mail app on your iPhone or iPad with version 6 or below The Mail app on your Windows phone preceding the 8.1 release Some Desktop mail clients like Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird What exactly is Google considering insecure about Mozilla-based mail clients? To restore access I had to change a G-Mail setting to allow access by insecure apps. Same thing: made my hair stand on end (ok, hairs) - eventually I changed password on all devices. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Original Message David E. If I clear both checkboxes under OCSP, I have no problem reaching google.com; but I refuse to surf the Web in such an insecure manner. If I check only the first checkbox, I again have no problem; but that is still surfing in an insecure manner. If I check both checkboxes, the problem still exists. Fair points. So why should we care if our connection to Google is secure? It's just a search engine. Hmm-mm, both my check-boxes for certificates are checked and I have no problem with https://www.google.com Now, Google is way more than a "search engine" - it is an archive AND accumulates information on what users search for and about. And now it listens to every conversation near a Google Home! Home + Dot + Echo devices now sell at the rate of one a second! Is this likely to be because SM 2.48 needs updating, a Kaspersky problem, or something else? Thanks, in advance, for advice, fix suggestions, and/or guidance. First, thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I upgraded to SM v.2.49 but the problem didn't go away. Then, the Xmas holidays intervened followed by a bad case of influenza. Interestingly, Windows Update also stopped working about December 1, 2017 on my Win 7 machine. That turned out to be a slight blessing as I didn't have to contend with the bad Intel/Microsoft Spectre/Meltdown patches that screwed up things for lots of folks. The fix I found was to deinstall Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) 2017 and go back to KIS 2016. With KIS 2016, all of the security certificate errors ceased. My suspicion - untested at this point - is that KIS 2017 contained a preliminary fix required by the Intel/Microsoft Spectre/Meltdown patch and thus caused some sort of conflict with an unpatched (i.e. after December 1) Win 7 system. Who knows? Bad timing? WFM: I am using SM 2.49.1 and Kaspersky 2017 (KIS 17.0.0.611(j)) with no certificate errors. All Windows updates through 1/18/2018 applied. Maybe your KIS 2017 install didn't work quite right and/or KIS 2016 isn't playing man-in-the middle with all of your web traffic? Can you try this go to https://www.google.com click on the lock icon on the bottom right of the SeaMonkey window you should get a 'Page Info' popup with the Security tab highlighted click on View Certificate click on Details is the Certificate Hierarchy GeoTrust Global CA Google Internet Authority G2 www.google.com I'm wondering if KIS 2016 is intercepting all of your web traffic or not..
