Testing Marking Cross-posts as read in SeaMonkey

I do a fair bit of reading of posts on UseNet which are often cross-posted, but the cross-posts are not getting marked as read. I know this did function, long ago, in Netscape Navigator, got broken (was that in Mozilla Suite??) and still doesn't work in SeaMonkey and, I guess, in Thunderbird.
