Need opinion on a browser situation
I have been using an application named PeaPod for ordering groceries online and having them delivered to my home. They are affiliated with Stop and Shop. A few days ago they installed a new program. One of the problems I am having is that one of the main screens has a number of boxes across the screen for selecting what you want to do. The problem I am having is that the left most box does not appear in my window and there is no scroll option for getting to it. I have notified PeaPod of this problem and was told that they do not support Firefox or Internet Explorer and that I should install Google Chrome. I just responded t them that every application I use works fine with Firefox (I am really using SM) and Internet Explorer. I informed them that their software people probably developed the application with Google Chrome and that they need to fix it so it works with Firefox and Internet Explorer. Re: Seamonkey performance issue
NFN Smith wrote: I have an odd/frustrating performance problem with Seamonkey 2.24 (although I've been seeing this for several previous versions), running on Windows 7 Professional. Computer is a bit old, running an Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo processor, and has 8 GB of RAM. I use Seamonkey for both browser and mail/news, as well as occasional work with the HTML composer tool. Symptoms: There are times when I'm working in Seamonkey, and I get temporary freezes (typically 10-20 seconds), where Seamonkey refuses any kind of input from either keyboard or mouse. When this happens, I can use Alt-Tab to move from window to Window, but if I do a mouse-over, putting the pointer over a Seamonkey icon in the Windows Taskbar, most of the windows show a wait cursor. This happens whether I'm working in the mail client, the browser, or even the composer. Sometimes, when this happens, I'll get a switch of focus from one open Seamonkey window to another (e.g., I'm composing an email message, and suddenly the focus switches to the browser window). When the problem happens, I'm not seeing any indication of overall performance issues on the machine, just Seamonkey. A check of the Windows Task Manager often shows relatively high CPU usage (up to about 50%) by Seamonkey, whether Seamonkey's memory usage is a few hundred MB, or over a GB. Restarting Seamonkey seems not to have any effect. I use Seamonkey on a number of machines, both Windows and Linux, but this is the only place where I'm seeing this issue. This is my primary working profile. I typically have 5-10 browser tabs open at a time. In mail, I have 4 POP accounts active (no IMAP), as well as 4 news servers defined, and a varying number of newsgroup subscriptions. I know that the normal first thing to do when addressing performance issues is to disable extensions (and I have about 30 extensions active), but I'm finding pretty much the same behavior if I run in Safe Mode. I've also seen and worked through suggestions relating to Flash (including disabling the Flash plugin), but no improvement there, either. To me, this one indicates some sort of background process that's active (possibly related to mail), but I can't identify it. I would consider my user profile to not be overly big -- even with a lot of stored mail from POP accounts, the profile is less than 1 GB, and I'm pretty aggressive about keeping my Inbox and trash folders pared down. Given timing of the problem (sometimes, two or three times in an hour), I'm wondering if there might be something related to POP settings. In my main working account I have quite a few mail filters active, most for delivering received content to folders, as well as several search folders active. Any ideas of what's happening, and how I might identify what's causing this? Smith I'm getting these problems to the point of my system being unusable. When I enter my user id and click on login, the field clears but the next screen doesn't show up. Spoke to the support group at the bank and although they support about 10 browsers, they do not support SM. Works OK with IE and it works OK with FireFox. I suspect it might be a font problem. I often use larger font sizes and have even switched font types to improve readability. By the way, the bank software is not checking the User Agent so they are not blocking it. Any ideas? Installing SM with IE, need help.
I decided to do a new install of SM. Uninstalled existing version. Went to IE and apparently downloaded SM. Found list of downloads, clicked on SM. Got to asking me about who was installing and I picked current user as I don't know admin p/w and I am an admin anyway. That's the last thing that happened. No windows or anything. No indication of completion. Help, please. Stan ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
SeaMonkey wil not start after closing.
I posted about this in another post but the subject of the post may have caused it to be overlooked so I am posting it again with a more meaningful subject. The essence of my problem is that after I install, setup, and use 1.1.18, if I shutdown SM or my computer then I cannot get SM to start again. When I click on the SM icon, I get the small SeaMonkey window that has the SM icon and explains that SM is a suite et al. I check the processes in the task manager and SM is there in the list. I stop it and try again and get the same thing. The only way I can get SM to run is to uninstall it and reinstall it. But if I shut it down, it won't restart. This seems strange in that I had removed all traces of SM before installing it. It started fine. Let me do everything. But won't restart (or won't bring up the mail/news and browser windows. Could it have anything to do with my 64 bit machine and/or Vista Home Premium? I was running OK on 1.1.17 but I tried backing up to that and it didn't run. I've also downloaded 1.1.18 again. All my other programs run fine. I've had to switch to IE in order to have browser and mail. I really prefer to get back to SM. I cleared everything and reinstalled 1.1.18
I deleted every folder and file connected with SeaMonkey. I want to see if I can shut down and then bring up SM again. If this works, I can copy certain folders/files from my old computer into my new profile so I can at least recover bookmarks, address book, E-mails. At this moment SM is working, mail, newsgroups, browser. I am about to close SM and see if I can click on the icon and start it up. If that works, I will add to this thread. I have not been able to do this all day. I am currently running with a Default profile.
