Amazon AVG Pop Ups - Trojans ?

At first I'd get popup windows asking me to change my Search Engine defaults to Amazon. I hit the Esc button to kill them. Now I get an AVG Popup asking the same thing. Are these Trojan or Virus related ? I do an AVG Free Virus search occasionally and it finds two or three Threats, but this
