Hi,
I've managed to get as far as the 'Freenet Help Index', and I'm
experiencing lots of node activity, but when I attempt to get into, say,
'Freenet Movies' (or a dozen other links) all I get is an interminable "waiting
for 127.0.0.1..." message.
Well, I've also received a "Key not found"
Occasionally I am getting one or two levels into "The Freedom Engine", but
mainly I'm just "waiting for 127.0.0.1...". It's something like "Waiting for
Godot" -- you know something is supposed to be happening, but you don't know
just what.
;-)
A couple questions (I'm running build 5036):
When downloading through the regular Web my
downloads typically run at 160 KB/sec.
I'm wondering what the 'Node Bandwidth Limits'
settings should be. The default configuration has set '0' for each of the three
settings. Does this, in fact, mean "no fixed limit" (and should be left alone),
I upgraded to version 5046 yesterday, and now I always get the error
message:
"Couldn't connect to the network. Are you sure you
have configured Freenet correctly? Also make sure that you are connected to the
internet."
I have not changed anything in my configuration, and I am connected to
The Freedom Engine, the "Oldest living Freenet portal", has been

doesn't even show up on the Web Interface any more.
Has it passed on, and hence is no longer the Oldest living Freenet
portal? Or has it merely
When you are downloading a site or a file, and either "Waiting for..." or
"Transferring data from..." is displayed at the bottom of the window (in
Netscape), the user does not know what's happening. Is the search for the key

Is there an English language forum anywhere on theWWW (or
elsewhere)where Freenet users can assist each other?
Thanks.

I'm a johnny-come-lately to Freenet, and I guess I came along a little too
late to see it in action. It's sad, but Freenet seems to be fading away; fewer
links work every day, and those that do have little content left.
I've tried the boards at Frost, but other than a few testers, nonsense

Thanks for the note. I should not have slighted your (and Toad's) efforts.
After all, you have accomplished an incredible thing... a world-wide net through
which people can communicate freely.
Perhaps I was just having a 'down' period... like Freenet.
