Just finished a general overhaul of the processor, for the first
time, after three years. That's this processor:

There wasn't anything wrong with it, but the hoses needed replacing,

Hello all,
This is my first time posting here. I am just starting to really get my feet
wet, and understand all the ideas that are being put forth here on the list,
and I am very thankful for the wise discussions. We are just starting up a

Newbie question:
Please comment on the use of an oil fired water heater as a
biodiesel processor. Thanks
If you are very safe and have no leaks it would work, but it would be
dangerous if you don't take everything into consideration. It might
be safer to use a taco circulator to heat the oil with hot water from
the water heater.
I would just be afraid if a safety valve blew open venting flammable

I want to make a processor that produces no fumes, but how do you get an
agitator through the container without having a hole?
I also want to produce a fairly large amount of biodiesel and plan to use 250
gallon home fuel oil tanks. Any problems anyone has experienced with that?
Thanks

It's not

Ah, it is as I was supposing, then.
As for your wallet? If a person were on a really tight budget they could use
a flat bottomed

Does anybody out there personally use a poly tank to make their bd?
Yup. But only as wash, storage and transfer vessels, not as a reactor. Just
don't have much desire to see 400 gallons of hot oil and caustic running
round the bend and down to the creek.
(Moment of awed silence) 400 gallons
Heidi,
What I think Todd is alluding to is that the plastic used in most of those
plastic
tanks, start to soften already at 60 degree Celsius and they will not hold at
boiling point. If you get composite tanks that will take around 100 degree
Celsius, they are at least 3 times more expensive
malady. Remember, whoever makes such a decision was the one who professed to
know what they were doing.

Poly tanks are rated. They're rated for chemical compatibility, UV
compatibility, specific gravity, positioning (vertical/horizontal) and
temperature, with the later generally being around 110*F for 1.9 SG.
