Indian NE Railway for Jatropha Plants
India's North-Eastern Railway will grow 450,000 Jatropha Carcus plants
this year along railway tracks and other land under its control for
bio-diesel. The NE Railway General Manager, Mr J P Batra, said that
bio-diesel extracted from the plant had been
Thank you for posting that link. I enjoyed reading it.
But I disagree with your conclusions. As nice as a new
diesel is I am still going to keep my 23 year old audi
diesel. Once you consider that I only have about $500
into it not counting fuel or oil changes and that it
gets 50 mpg I
China faces a chronic energy shortage and making the switch from
coal-fired plants to cleaner fuel is costly and disruptive.
Electricity provider CLP Holdings, which steadily reduced its
emission of pollutants in the 1990s, reversed progress last year by
burning 50 percent more coal

Still too long, but I'd put a bumper sticker on
my Beetle TDI that just said Fossil Fuels are Extinct.

That 1980 Mercedes we converted this weekend was one of the nicest examples
of an old car that I have seen in a while. No rust, not a lot of
clutter, easy to work on.
Only 26 mpg, but it's a wagon, and heavy. With free veggie, the mpg isn't
as critical.

Hi all,
A new thread for consideration: fossil fuel use is fuelling our
politics. Up until now we've been eating the rabbits. But what happens when the
rabbits get a gun? Pitt takes a look at the question.

After having a VW Pickup and becoming interested in

That's good Ken! It hits home and it's a teaser, it'd get at least
some people thinking
Other than probably violating some warranty clause, I cant see any reason.
Of course the dealer will tell you all kinds of reasons to not use it.
However most if not all BioFuel suppliers dont suggest running B100 or 100%
BioDiesel but using B20 or B50
Which is a mixture of regular diesel
calm down, man. hitler never said any of that. the writer made it all up.

Hi Luc,
I posted the same query recently after checking the archives at the old site.
The only thing I found was something in Mike Pelly's BD Receipe that he used a
10 micron filter, if my memory serves me correctly. I'm going the route of the
water filtration units using 30 5 micron
There is a point that's worth repeating here regarding older vehicles:
Most cars use more energy in the manufacture than they do in fuel
consumption over their entire lives - so as a rule the best way to
reduce the energy balance of vehicles is to make them last as long as
you can. If your

It seems that a Stirling Engine refrigeration unit would theoretically be
ideal (in that no chemicals are involved and they are durable). However,
sourcing one at a decent price will be a challenge. Anyway, it's something
to research.
I know
yeah, efficiency versus cost. It really is all about the economy, environment
be damned, when we want energy. Another thing to remember is that hydrogen is
the transport molecule for energy, not carbon. So going directly from wind or
sun to electricity or energy is wicked efficient. That's
Hey Darryl,
I agree with you, why aren't biofuels as sexy as fuel cells? Where's hollyood
when you need them? I have always thought that if people could understand the
idea of carbon neutrality, biodiesel and other distillates would be a no

If you park next to a propane refueling depot, and there is propane in the air,
the engine can runaway. Same thing can happen with worn rings. The engine
will pull oil from the sump and take off until something breaks or oil runs out.

1. Socialism and democracy are not mutually exclusive.
2. The U.S. is no longer a democracy but a plutocracy;

Interesting; another post said the Egyptians form ice at night, by ice
forming do you mean the water froze into block of ice? I would guess that a
bit of ice forming may suggest that it may be possible to transfer the heat
in a cool room to the night time sky. Are there any practical

Combustion of hydrocarbons produces CO2 and H2O. So whether you strip
the hydrogen out of the fossil fuel and burn it or burn it while it is
still part of the fossil fuel makes no difference. I haven't done the
