Actually Sierra was even worse with recycling Ultima art than that... The UI Original / Mt. Drash cover art was originally used as the back of the Ultima II box. Steve From: Jukka Eronen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, May 24, 2004 1:34 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [SWCollect] So obviously Mt. Drash is no longer rare The second Drash ended without meeting the reserve. Reserve tends to drive certainprocent of people off which is quite understandable. But the price dropped a bit in any case from former loose cassette auctions once again. And to regard this one was with manual. Though it (probably) wasn't sold now. BTW oddly Drash has SierraVision-logo manual where the game is SierraVenture-series. Maybe they couldn't make their mind which series it belonged to :) (being mainly arcade but has [thin] RPG-elements). (Well, they reused the cover art from Ultima I too for Drash too and it's obvious and known thattoo much attention wasn't given for its production in any case.) Do you know any other games that had this kind of odd mixture of items (Venture/Vision or similar)? Sierra threw leftover material and reprinted what was necessary while selling their titlesduring years, i.e. seems if they had original box and manuals they needed to reprint only the floppies/ref. cards etc. But I'm not referring tothat with the question. Kizuna Encounter, or something. If I recall, there's some 2 or 3 confirmed copies only. It's actually very common on MVS (arcade cart), so I don't know what the fuss is about. Probably from all the collectors trying to have every cart released ever (disregarding quality). Neo Geo is crazy, but I'm guilty of making a profit now and then on it (it's very big here in Brazil, and there are quite good offers from time to time). My guess is that it reaches so high prices because part of the processing power lies within the carts themselves. They're still making new games, each release packed with more graphics and sound, and plays on the same old system. It's a different approach on consoles by SNK, and I give them good credit for it. If I could play the newest DOOM on a PC I bought 12 years ago, I'd be a happy man. :) Best regards, Tomas Buteler --- Pedro Quaresma [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Yikes! Here's the wording from the CURIOUS page: When tabulating a game's availability versus the numbers given below, take into account only condition levels G and above. For an explanation of conditions click here. Usually, a game in worse condition (i.e. G/G ) will be more readily available than the same game in better condition (i.e. MS), but the CURIOUS Scale does not differentiate rarity by condition. Although each category requires that only complete or near-complete (MMC) games be counted. ___ So these latest ones don't count for CURIOUS, but I do think they are a sign of more to come. Re: [SWCollect] So obviously Mt. Drash is no longer rare....
Hmmm, yeah. I think my estimate was a bit too low. It is one of the most desirable Ultima collectables you could hope to bid on (you seem to have all the ones you can't, though). Of course there's no saying what the reserve is, either. As an aside, I'm also speculating that Keith Z, given past comments about his reluctance to talk about the game, probably wouldn't be willing to autograph one :) On May 14, 2004, at 8:40 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: In a message dated 05/14/2004 7:25:23 PM Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: So that's two (albeit incomplete) copies on ebay concurrently. And neither have bids. Anyone care to make guesses as to how much they sell for? I'll say $300-400 tops. I'll say at least $1000 for the one with the manual. Two at same time will not help price though. Tom
Re: [SWCollect] So obviously Mt. Drash is no longer rare....
No Joe, Drash is not on my list, never been :)... As for registration cards it is my understanding that they are just consecutively numbered and not game specific...? AFAIK this particular card can be found in all other Sierra releases of that period as well. -- Holger Bachert / Tel mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://bachert.cx ICQ#:369991 -- This message was sent to you because you are currently subscribed to the swcollect mailing list. And it will dry up, not sure how many before it does (but not a LOT). I don't know how many Drashs have been sold... but I'd bet it was a typical bargain bin item for quite some time. And you know that 'rarity' is a quite ambiguous term, especially in our genre here - it's largely defined through supply and demand. It's not a mass hobby, thus the actual amount of available copies is not as important. And yes, meanwhile it's been offered much more often than some other game, and IMO that's all what counts. ;) -- Holger Bachert / Tel mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://bachert.cx ICQ#:369991 -- This message was sent to you because you are currently subscribed to the swcollect mailing list. Is there really 1000 drash sold? How do we know this? On the other hand, Scott Adams Gold Collector Series were individually numbered and only 1000 copies were ever made (for each computer type??) There are others that probably sold even less than this, but many are not worth collecting... Exactly what I predicted here :) : http://vintage-sierra.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=96postdays=0postorder=asc; start=15 Quote: I wouldn't be suprised if more will surface after this and I hope so (hopefully not counterfeiters though), because that is quite significant a sum, and people who might notice this (and especially those who have some recollection of sometimes having one) will start digging for these from attics, fleas etc. cash signs at their eyes. (Not to say this was difficult to guess by anyone though.) The subject line is probably intentionally exaggarated but surely Drash is still a rarity. Though now there seem to be many rarer early Sierra-games. Well of course, but not a problem except for the "poor" people who own one. Maybe not even for us as if it goes for a huge price again solidifies value, at least until more show up.. Bargain chance is most likely gone though if that is what you mean, just the nature of ebay, I would never have listed one of mine there. The Seven Drashes sounds like the title of a modern-day RPG. Of course I'm not sure I'd care for the quests (go to the office, get stuck in traffic, work a second job instead of killing monsters for extra cash, etc.) On Apr 21, 2004, at 7:34 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Tom, Can you list the owners of the seven Drashes (owner, complete-or-cassette, etc?).
