hi, Mail storage encryption. Added value. Your sales monkeys will love you. Yeah, I was thinking about such Value Added Services like Searchable Mail Archive or All your Mails on CD-ROM. -daniel -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Maillist-Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/swinog%40swinog.ch/
Re: [swinog] Überwachung des E-Mail-Verkehrs ...
Switzerland (as far as I know) does not have the equivalent of the UK's RIP act. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this law makes anyone in possession of encrypted material responsible for providing it in cleartext format. Silly, no? Without going into the deeper implications, it would be technically feasible to allow public key-encrypted mail storage for users. You could do it via x.509 certs or something--allow the user to access their key via for example an ssl/tls web gui and use it to decrypt their mails or just plain download them via pop3/whatever. It wouldn't make it impossible for a provider to scan actual mail traffic if the police required it for whatever reason, but it would free you from the onus of having to provide access to the users' actual mail contents while it's stored on one of your servers. [swinog] Entries on abuse.net
A member of SIUG noted that many swiss providers do not have an entry in the contact database of abuse.net. We think it would be good if the swiss providers represented on this list could update their entries to provide the e-mail address of their abuse-contacts to abuse.net. Please note that abuse.net is *not* a blacklist. abuse.net is a mere database which stores abuse-contacts for many domains and thereby provides a good method to contact abuse-masters. Other services such as spamcop also use the database of abuse.net. The database is open and public, it can be queried over the Web or with whois. More informations and methods to update entries can be found here: http://www.abuse.net/ Thanks and regards, Felix -- Felix Rauch, research assistant at laboratory for computersystems, ETH Zuerich http://www.nice.ch/~felix/Member of Swiss Internet User Group: www.siug.ch This article contains my personal view only! Hello From: Felix Rauch A member of SIUG noted that many swiss providers do not have an entry in the contact database of abuse.net. We think it would be good if the swiss providers represented on this list could update their entries to provide the e-mail address of their abuse-contacts to abuse.net. doesn't make much sense to me - why an additional db with abuse-addresses? Ripe friends seems sufficient to me. Instead of some privat directories I would prefer to have always udated whois-data We have already an anoying orbl-pluralism out there - do we need this also in the field of abuse-addresses?
