I 
had to check first, thus the late answer.
 
There was no transparent SMTP proxy installed and there were no 
changes made in the network that could have this effect. Off the head, I can 
only imagine that some customers might have subscribed to the firewall that we 
offer, which would indeed block port 25 outgoing (unless there was something 
going on with network or dns...)
If 
you have any examples or the problems persist, please contact me 
directly.

are you sure about this? The technical requirements for the delivery of
electronic mail, which has some official character, states in chapter
6.2.2 that swisstime.ethz.ch is the primary time server to be used.
But then, the UVEK is not ETHZ, is it? :)

I already noticed that swisstime does not seems to be 100% available.

Metas work really fine.

Colt Italy blocks us on the mail side. So far, our requests for more
information to Colt Italy's abuse and postmaster remained unanswered (or
returned as non deliverables). Can someone point me to the right place
or forward it colt-internally?

The message we get is:
553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)

And it happens on ns2.it.colt.net whith bluewin.ch sender addresses...

die rfc-ignorant.org-Listen würde ich mit Vorsicht beachten. Sie scheinen mir nicht 
optimal genug gewartet zu sein, ich warte z.T. noch heute auf Antwort der Betreiber... 
Auch ist der Schluss, dass eine Postmaster-Adresse bounced (etwa weil die Box aufgrund 
der Sobig's mit Mailbömbchen gefüllt wurde) nicht unbedingt zwingend darauf 
hinweisend, dass sich dahinter Spammer verbergen.

Bei den anderen... Ja, es kommt immer mal wieder vor, dass man in einer Liste landet. 
Früher war das der Fall, wenn ein Kunde ein offener Proxy hatte, welcher dann via den 
Mail-Server des ISP weiterrelayte, aber das scheint mir gebessert zu haben und kaum 
mehr der Fall zu sein.
Entweder wird dann nur noch die IP des Relays eingetragen, oder die Techniken haben 
sich geändert.

So über den Daumen haben die letzten Eintragungen von MTA's in RBLs meist mit 
Nigeria-Spam per Webmail zu tun gehabt...

was ich allerdings viel erschreckender finde ist, dass sunrise.net in der postmaster 
list drin ist - selbst getestet: [EMAIL PROTECTED] kommt mit einer HTML(!) Meldung 
zurück, dass der Empfänger nicht zustellbar sei:

bei der ganzen Angelegenheit ist mir aufgefallen, dass zahlreiche MTAs keine PTR 
Records im DNS haben, wo dies doch seit 1996 im RFC1912 dokumentiert ist, dass es so 
sein sollte.

With the smtpd involved, 5.7.0 is, to my knowledge, a "manually"
defined filter. These filters include body filters. Maybe your
mail contained a word usually used in spam, so it's been rejected.

ACCEPT LBL "abuse" TO-ADDRESS abuse@
to the smtpds server or default domain filter, where  is
their domain.

it appears that Sunrise has turned on the more strict sender verification, meaning 
that mails from non-existing (or inactive) domains are rejected. I have seen the queue 
from us to Sunrise's mailserver grow a little, but all the entries in that queue had 
invalid sender domains (mostly bluewin.ch misspelled.)

I have seen that MS Exchange Servers behind ADSL have problems
receiving mail from us. (No, no MS here)

You folks definately know this better but can you tell me
if this is right:

The MTU is 1500. The ADSL Router adds 8 bits for
encapsulation for PPPoE, this gives a total of 1508. Since
this is more than the 1500, the packet doesnt go thru. The
solution is to reduce the MTU size (on the MS Exchange Machine?)
to 1492. 

Is this about right or am I totally off here?
