On my laptop the backlight service is stopped at boot instead of starting:
# journalctl -a -b | grep backl
Oct 20 08:13:09 *** systemd[1]: Stopped Load/Save Screen Backlight
Brightness of backlight:intel_backlight.
Oct 20 08:13:09 *** systemd[1]: Removed slice
I have been using ExecStopPost with a combination of busctl's
introspect command over org.freedesktop.systemd1 interface properties.
I'm not sure about Result property being the best option, as it
doesn't reflect exactly a watchdog action, maybe a combination of
different properties, Result +

Newer systemd versions provide a lot more functionality. There might
be some boot speed changes too, but not really because of targetted
