2011/4/21 Flaimo fla...@gmail.com: created a proposal for amenity=daycare: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/daycare I agree that this is a feature we want to have, but I don't think there should be rendering suggestions in the feature description, and I can't agree that this belongs to the same group as amenity=university, but as that's not crucial to your proposal you could simply delete this from the description. If you wanted to enhance the proposal you could add suggested subtags for different type of daycare institutions (operator is surely one, but there could also be standard machinereadable categories like public, private, religious operator). You could also expand on the envisaged group of children that can go there (age group), and on the services they offer. Re: [Tagging] Feature Proposal - RFC - daycare
You say: A place for children to do homework, play and spend time otherwise after school. The after school part is inaccurate as day care centers are often a place children go to during the day while their parents work. Some other considerations: - Type: - centers: larger in size, with multiple employees caring for a larger number of children. - home-based: an individual watching children in their own home. - Frequency of care offered: Full-time (ie children attend every day on fixed schedule), part-time (ie less than full-time), before and after school (as a service to working parents whom leave for work and arrive home from work before and after the regular public school day) - The existing opening_hours tag is useful information that someone could specify for a daycare. - Age ranges are important (ie some care for only school age children, where others specialize in pre-school, infants, etc). [Tagging] Transportation center that serves both buses and trains?
Using both railway=station and amenity=bus_station gives two labels in Mapnik. I reported this as a bug but apparently it's not fixable: http://trac.openstreetmap.org/ticket/3478 What should be done? ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging

Re: [Tagging] Feature Proposal - RFC - daycare
The problem with social_facility=outreach, even if you also use social_facility:for=senior, is that it doesn't specify which of the many types of services are available. Subtags for such things as adult daycare would also be useful. ---Original Email--- Subject :Re: [Tagging] Feature Proposal - RFC - daycare From :mailto:brad.neuhau...@gmail.com Date :Thu Apr 21 20:25:26 America/Chicago 2011 adult day care might be taken care of by social_facility=outreach? http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:social_facility On Thu, Apr 21, 2011 at 6:53 PM, Richard Welty rwe...@averillpark.net mailto:rwe...@averillpark.net wrote: On 4/21/11 7:46 PM, Craig Wallace wrote: On 21/04/2011 16 tel:21%2F04%2F2011%2016 :13, Flaimo wrote: created a proposal for amenity=daycare: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/daycare more information on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daycare day care is a very vague and ambiguous term.
