Re: [Tagging] Ferry lines, ways or relations?
Am 09.09.2012 um 21:06 schrieb Dave Sutter sut...@intransix.com: Here it is easy enough to label a room and a building. What is the way for labeling this as a part of Stanford University? Like in your shopping mall example you would likely draw a polygon around it and tag it name=Stanford U. and amenity=university. A solution for special cases might be the site relation. I think the bigger problem arises for stuff that is inside this polygon but NOT part of the university (maybe not in this particular case, but these situations occur). How do we exclude a POI from an enclosing polygon (maybe also in combination with tags like layer or building level, which add some pseudo 3D but are not automatically recognized by standard routines like STWithin, so evaluating might need to take them additionally in account). [Tagging] Fishing allowed?
Hi, I would like to store information about the legality of fishing a lake, a river, etc. Is there already any tag with such a meaning? Teuxe ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging

Phil The tag might need additional qualifications, ie. species, sex, etc. For example salmon season length, and even if there will be a season, depends on the expected availability of the fish. Recently someone posted the suggestion of linking to external databases for this kind of dynamic information. I think that suggest has a lot of merit. Not sure how the databases would be linked, but at a minimum, the website of the official authority could be included. There is a tag leisure=fishing thats already being used http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:leisure%3Dfishing Bit surprised by the lack of info on the wiki page. I'd have though someone would have drawn up proposals for a way to tag other info linked to fishing. With regards to lawfulness of fishing I think it's a bit more complicated than yes/no? as pointed out in other emails Jason ___ Tagging mailing list Tagging@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/tagging
