Hi Dave, hi Warin, exactly my thoughts. See also again the comments on my diary: these names seem to be official ones. So I'll add OSM notes to let others fix this or should I move them directly to official name and leave name empty? (I've no local knowledge there :)) Kind Regards, Peter On

Semantically the former makes more sense and as a plus, groups all sources under one tag: source:name specifies the source of the name tag value source:ref specifies the source of the ref tag value source:foo specifies the source of the foo tag value On Sun, Sep 27, 2015 at 7:18 PM,

I was using official_name=* for this already (like stores with ridiculously long names) - I just realized this might be completely undocumented. Javbw > On Sep 27, 2015, at 8:37 PM, Warin <61sundow...@gmail.com> wrote: > >> On 27/09/2015 8:21 PM, Peter wrote: >> Hi all, >> >> we've detecting

Hi, if you search on osm.org for Республикой Беларусь then you get lots** of similar namings from the same user, all having kind of a direction (from Moscow to XY) inside the name. I've contacted the editor to join this discussion here and what she/he thinks about that the direction should

My fear is that some overzealous mappers will start adding those tags to all objects in their neighborhood, just to "protect' their area and scare away newbies. Since we suppose that all data is mean to be correct and everybody makes edits to improve the map, I do not see a good reason for such a
