Re: keyboard interuptability turns itself off.

2015-03-09 Thread Doug Geoffray via Talk
I'm not following how you believe this problem is related to a memory
leak. My guess is you have some app which is temporarily turning off
the keyboard voice for whatever reason and isn't always restoring it in
all cases.

If you can duplicate this somewhat on demand I suggest running with all
apps off for a bit and see if the problem goes away.

i have had this problem too. this is some kind of memory leak.
what i am talking about is keyboard interuptibility which i have
turned on to all keys. turns itself off. when the keys stop stopping
speech i can go to the keyboard and interuptibility and it will be
turned off. once i turn it back to all keys speech can be stopped. but
it is faster to just reload w e and everything goes back to normal
 until the next time.

I've had similar problems with windoweyes just starting to talk every
few minutes. It usually is reading the last email or something else
and then stops and does it again every few minutes. I am still
 running windows 7 64 bit and wineyes 9.1 .

Wonder if anybody has figured out a simple solution.

i have had this happen before with w e 8.0 to 4 but it did not happen
 very often.
i habve told gw and now i squared about this twice before and got no
 responce.
when it does this, what is happening is keyboard interuptability
turns itself off without makeing any set file changes. i can reload w
e 9.1 and interuptability is back on again.
i have been able to get to the keyboard menu to varify this. once i
turn it back on everything returns to normal.
but now it turns itself off when a web page says i need the flash
player for the content on the page and i have to reload w e 9.1 every
 time.
i did not download the flash player. this might of been a bogus
malware notice. i already have the flash player installed.

INSTALLING WINDOW-EYES9 IN A WINDOWS8.1 BOX?

2015-03-09 Thread Olusegun -- Victory Associates LTD, Inc. via Talk
Hello Everyone:

Last week Friday, I decided to install Window-Eyes9 on a Windows8.1 laptop
that's been sitting around in my office for a while.

First, it took forever for the CD to come up talking; when it did and I
selected Install Window-Eyes With Speech, nothing loaded for nearly five
minutes or longer.

When the installation process finally got underway, I was unable to SILENCE
the speech so as to enable me choose what I want to install--say for
example, choosing a notetaker to install. When I pressed a letter to cycle
through the list of Braille notetakers I could install, the chatter DID NOT
stop. I had to tab and shift-tab back and forth to be able to read
anything.

Frustrated, I had to BORROW A PAIR OF EYES to help me with an installation
process that I ordinarily did ON MY OWN on every other computer I have here.

So, why is installation of Window-Eyes9 more tedious on a Windows8.1
Professional machine and it was smooth sailing on both XP and Windows7
Professional?

When I completed the installation and rebooted the machine, the StartUp
Sound, like it was in XP, was there; when I unloaded Window-Eyes, the Close
Sound was there as well. Not so however in Windows7. So, what changed and
why?

Apologies for a rather long post; but gracious thanks for any answers I can
get based on what I've described herein.

Sincerely,
Olusegun
Denver, Colorado

With all due respect, if you say something about getting information
from AI Squared, could you please reference where you got that
information so others can see it as well? It just makes validation much
easier and that way AI Squared doesn't have to go find their own
material all the time.

Regarding the AVG question about excluding window-eyes files, i know
that there's something within the settings to have directory exceptions
in place. I remember having a bit of an issue with the browse button
though to get there.

speak for its accessibility but I'll provide the link for anyone who'd like to
check it out.

Bryce, hopefully I spelled your name correctly..? I have ran this security
system and no it isn't very accessible. I have the gentleman who does my computer
work help me with it when it needs updated. Once it is set up you really don't
need to do anything since it runs totally in the background as I understand. One
thing I will say is that I have had this package on my system since the summer of
2012 and have never been bothered with any sort of viruses spyware or even much in
the way of anoying popups. So if you can keep it updated I think you will like it
since it is very low maintenance. Just my two sense worth for whatever that might
be worth. THANKS 73 de

With all due respect, if you say something about getting information from AI
Squared, could you please reference where you got that information so others
can see it as well? It just makes validation much easier and that way AI
Squared doesn't have to go find their own material all the time.

Regarding the AVG question about excluding window-eyes files, i know that
there's something within the settings to have directory exceptions in place. I
remember having a bit of an issue with the browse button though to get there.

I have used Eset products for years. You can get a trial of Nod32 or
 Eset Security Suite from them.

well that looks interesting. I have a copy of clam win portable on this box
but haven't ever used it. I'm ready to throw avira out the window, though,
because it's not that accessible, but neither is avast from what I can
tell. PC Magazine recommended panda antivirus but it's not that great with
window-eyes either. And avg just bugs you to upgrade to pro a ton. any
 other recommendations?

 Chris and others,
I just checked the Clamwin Web site and it does indicate that Clamwin does
not include a real-time scanner. However, there is a separate real-time
scanner called Clam Sentinel. I have never used it with screen readers and
so I can't speak for its accessibility but I'll provide the link for
anyone who'd like to check it out.

a desktop shortcut to start it? and would i be able to use the set files if
i copied them to that card?
