with wlm you do not need to use f8.
you can highlight copy and paste with the normal windows commands because
browse mode is off.
go to the beginning of the text and hold the shift key while arrowing down
the screen to the last line you want to move. control x to cut to
clipboard. arrow to where you want it to be and paste the text with control
v.

This is true in any email composition window because none of them use
browse mode. F8 is only used in browse mode which is only active when
viewing messages and only if the email client supports it.

RE: random repetition of subjectline

2015-04-29 Thread Chip Orange via Talk
Hi Pam,

One thing that can cause unwanted speech with Window-Eyes is the tool-tips
speech setting.

You can tell when this is your problem, because you start hearing speech after
every line usually, and it's the same speech. Then, if you move your mose to
an empty corner of the window, this unwanted speech stops.

When that happens, it's reading the line the mouse is on, due to some confusion
over it being a tooltip, and it happens every time you press a cursor key. To
stop it, go into your settings, in the general group, and I think in the Other
group is a setting for reading tooltips, and you can set it to off and save
your settings.

Hth,

Chip

I don’t know why, but the subjectline of a message I’m reading will repeat once
or twice. The body of the message will start reading, and it will break up in
the middle so that it can repeat the subjectline. Why is this? And is there
anything I can do about this? I have the latest window eyes. Pam.

RE: Window Eyes not reading lines correctly

2015-04-29 Thread Chip Orange via Talk
Pam,

I mentioned in an earlier note to you (when I was in a real hurry), about
having the same problem with a different program.

It turned out to be that I needed to really increase the cursor delay a lot,
because it was only happening when I was using the read to end (or setting it
up to read the X number of lines on a new page in browse mode, which uses read
to end to do that).

I had to create a .set file for my program, but I am guessing you have one for
WLM you can work with. Try making sure it's loaded, going to the cursor keys
options, expanding them to find the options group, and then tabbing over to
set these options:
* find the scope button for cursor delay, and set the scope to program.
This allows you to have a different setting for this, just for this .set file,
which won't effect anything else.
* tab once more, and change the cursor delay from 1 to 20 (that's what I picked
anyway).
* save your .set file settings.

Now, try reading your mail again and see if things are better; if not, it's
easy to undo these changes.
Please do let me know either way if it helps or not.

Hth,

Chip

Subject: Window Eyes not reading lines correctly

Hi All,

I've noticed lately in the latest version of Window-Eyes that lines of text
aren't being read correctly. Some lines of text are not being read. If I
use my arrow keys and move back up a line then I can get window eyes to
read
the line correctly. I think I remember somebody else reporting this same
problem but I don't remember what the fix was. Can anybody help? I'm
running the latest version of window eyes with the latest updates.

Good evening all,

As all of you know after reading a few messages about the problem that I’m
having with my laptop computer , I’m still not able to use my keyboards laptop
delete key, nor am I able to use my F8 key too begin the selection process.
Perhaps I’m wrong too suggest this, but I think that there might be a conflict
problem between the window eyes program, and keyboards on HP laptops. I did
have a discussion with a tek support person about this issue. I first tried
disabling the insert key layout, and then setting the keyboard too laptop key
layout, and had no success with any of these suggestions. It was suggested,
that I try hooking up an external keyboard to the laptop, and seeing if the
two problems disappear. The thing here is, why should we be asked too do that
when it means having to have to carry an extra peace of hardware just to be
able too use a delete key, when there is a delete key that is already on a
persons laptop computer.. This is something I believe, that needs to be looked

that use and want too use laptops. This is not meant too be interpreted as a
chritizism towards the developers and programmers of windoweyes, but I think

Hi,
This is correct.
When you are writing an email, you are not in browse mode, the f8 key will not
work. You'd use normal selection method.
When reading an email you are in browse mode. The f8 key works in this
situation.

Have you tried downloading the
Adobe Reader installer from ninite.com? I played hell with the reader
for about a week after getting my Windows 8.1 system, until people

Good luck,

I have had Adobe XI for along time, longer than I've had W-E 9.1 or AVG
2015. the problem just started with AVG 2015 and latest W-E.

I was thinking of uninstalling and re-installing Adobe XI. I don't know
anything about Ninite though. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

I got an email from another person with the same issues. Hopefully he
let Tech Support know.

thanks for your suggestion.

Have you tried downloading the
Adobe Reader installer from ninite.com? I played hell with the reader
for about a week after getting my Windows 8.1 system, until people
suggested that I do this, and for some reason, it took care of this
very issue. I simply couldn't get anything but a few lines of a
document to read, couldn't move forward at all, but after installing
the reader from Ninite I was good to go.

Good luck,

Larry

good afternoon list

I just spent the afternoon working with very patient Dave from W-e Tech
Support with a conflict between Window eyes 9.1, AVG 2015 and Adobe XI.

Window Eyes will NOT read the drop down menus (I think that's the right
word - File, view ect...) in adobe XI while AVG 2015 is enabled.

He said he is not aware of anyone else having this problem. Sooo,
please if you are having this issue please let tech support (and me)
know. OR if you have a solution, please let me know.

For now, I can use NVDA to read the menus although it is a pain to do,
at least it is a work around.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
Brenda
