Hi Butch,

For a single user, office 365 personal is, as I see it, a very good deal at a
cost of seven dollars a month or $70 a year plus local taxes.

All the best,

Rod

Re: Have No View

2020-04-04 Thread net bat2 via Talk

more info please.
if no other programs have been installed there would only be one icon, the
recycle bin.
windows 10 puts most programs in the start menu in the apps list. including
window eyes. if you want desktop icons you have to create them manually.
i think in the sys tray there is the option to hide or unhide the desktop
icons.

i think w e will still work with the desktop hidden.
if you can get to windows update i would check there to see if maybe there is a
video driver update that need to be installed.

it could be several things.
if you move the mouse if you have one does the screen wake up? if so the screen
saver may be activating
it could be going into sleep mode. but in this mode it usually turns speech
off.

these settings would be in the control panel in power settings.

RE: Some browser keys not working

2020-04-04 Thread tony c via Talk
The only reason Jaws over took Window eyes is because it was pushes by all the
rehabs across the country, and a lot of people were either not offered WE and
an option or were refused it. Too much politics involved there with FS and the
NFB

I installed the free jaws that they gave us window eyes users, and also the
tutorial. I set it up the way I wanted it, making it work as best as I
could. I didn't use it all the time. I used it when I needed it to do
something window eyes couldn't. I hadn't used it for a few months. I
brought it up, and it came up in its original mode it was installed with. I
tried to set it up again, and it wouldn't let me do it. So, I never used it
again. Pam.

Hi, Yep! I’m angry about it too. Jaws just doesn’t work nearly as seamlessly
as WE did. And, FS sucks.

No doubt about that, but some of us would like to be able to squeeze
the very life out of it while there is still time.

As I said before in a post of over a week or so ago, I was planning to
purchase the annual license the very day the free version of JAWS was
announced, or it would be more accurate to say, the day I was made aware
of it, so don't plan to use WE forever. But, what a great screen reader
to lose, especially to such a company as Freedom Scientific. I'm still
very angry about that.

Enough said.

Mike, On that, I have no answer. I guess my question would have to be,
are you having any similar difficulties with JAWS lately? If not, I
think that maybe there might possibly be an updated version of the

Apparently there is a common file used by all screen reading programs

for this working as well as it did.

Anyway, think about it, and maybe give it a try.
