Re: Problem with shockwave (adobe) plug-in

The question is, "How do you disable it and then reenable it?"

John,

I've left it installed but disabled it. This way most pages will default
to using HTML 5. And when I hit the occasional page that is written to
use only Flash I then enable it and disable it when done.

Yep same issue here. Disabling the plugin doesn't let you run flash
content
obviously. This is an issue that Firefox has had in various forms for
years
now. The ideal solution would be for things to migrate from flash to html
5,
but that'll be awhile. I just have noticed window-eyes being pretty
sluggish
in firefox as a result. There is always the option, too, of using an
add-on

like noscript or flashgot to disable or enable it at ones choosing.

Subject: Problem with shockwave (adobe) plug-in

Hi. Whenever I go to a website in Firefox (and IE too), I get a message
saying that the Shockwave plugin is either busy or has stopped running. I
then get an option to either stop the plug-in or continue. Whichever I do,
Windoweyes crashes on that website and I have to go into Windows Task
manager to close out Firefox.

And sometimes that doesn't even work.

A friend disabled the shockwave plug-in; now when I go to websites I get a
message asking if I want to allow it.

I have two questions: I understand that shockwave is the Adobe flash
player.

By disabling it, am I impairing Windoweyes in some way?

And, second, how do I fix this problem without having to disable a plug-in
that has worked fine until very recently?

Thanks. John

re: Problem with shockwave (adobe) plug-in 9. Problem with shockwave (adobe) plug-in (JOHN RIEHL via Talk)

2016-09-23 Thread David Helkenn via Talk

Hello, John et al:
I too am experiencing the same notice about Adobe's Shock Flash
Player. I simply select the 'Stop Plugin' option and wait! About
tenor so seconds later, I get the very same notice with the very same
options and I make the very same selection -- 'Stop Plugin."I then
wait. About another ten seconds go by and I get to repeat the actions
just described. This cycle goes on for about four or five times until
the plugin is stopped and Fire Fox then runs okay until something
else happens... Just what that is, is not to know!

All this is on a W7, WE9.5.3, and FF 48.0.2. I do not believe the
behavior described is connected with WE9.5.3 or its predecessor:WE9.5.1.

I have no work-around. I have no solution. Sometimes when the blinin'
system does favors, like invoking FF just because I'm sitting on a
link in the email, the same behavior happens. I *CANNOT* exit FF
while the wait period is in effect. The keyboard is out to lunch
until FF comes back with the notice or the plugin is actualy dead. I
think the problem is inFF and do not know how to notify Mozilla.

RE: Problem with shockwave (adobe) plug-in

2016-09-23 Thread JOHN RIEHL via Talk
Does not using Flash degrade Windoweyes performance? By the way, I've
noticed that even with Shockwave disabled, WE still locks up on ocdcasion.

Yep same issue here. Disabling the plugin doesn't let you run flash content
obviously. This is an issue that Firefox has had in various forms for years
now. The ideal solution would be for things to migrate from flash to html 5,
but that'll be awhile. I just have noticed window-eyes being pretty sluggish
in firefox as a result. There is always the option, too, of using an add-on
like noscript or flashgot to disable or enable it at ones choosing.

I have two questions: I understand that shockwave is the Adobe flash player.
By disabling it, am I impairing Windoweyes in some way?

And, second, how do I fix this problem without having to disable a plug-in
that has worked fine until very recently?

Thanks. John
