Here's how I fixed the Group By stuff:
1. Hit alt+v in the folder view to get to the view ribbon.
2. Tab to the View Settings button and press space bar.
3. Tab once to the 'Group by' button and press space bar.
4. You'll land on the 'Group by' checkbox, hit space bar to uncheck
