I tend to use those for stuff I need to

data. shouldn't be difficult to grep the info and format it into a csv
files.
Garmin utilities can convert csv files to POI
I think only Garmin with memory cards support loading these POI files. This
way you don't need to

I'm using highway=road stubs with a fixme=continuation tag. Both show up in
validators so they get attention if anyone is there mapping.

I realized when mapping today that it would be very useful to have a
set of OSM status POIs that you could use to mark the status of the
mapping at certain places.
I find I sometimes have to skip roads, tracks or paths, because I am
too tired, don't have time, or that I'm going at good

I've seen todo=job used for this purpose. And todo tags show up in
a number of verification tools, so it will be brought to people's
attention.
