What can I do to stop information from you? I removed it many times in spam
but your address seems to be one exception: I get messages again. This is
nothing against you as a person or against your content. I see you are from
Russia and I really like russian people, have many friends there.I like Russia
as well. The reason is: my engagement in OSM is recently less, so I try to read
only messages written from less friends.    Best regards, Marek

It is impossible to tell from the picture what its original purpose was, but
this doesn’t matter much if you just want to get it mapped. Thanks Brian, I
will proceed along those lines. I would still be interested to hear from
experts in the utility field as to what the original purpose of the lines were.
Since this is in the US, one case assume standard household voltage (given the
size of the insulators and the fact that it terminiantes at an old house in
ruins), which back in the day was 110.  In which case, there would be a
considerably percentage voltage drop over the many km distnace this line spans.

Feel free to delete it. For the future, use changeset comments first,

The takeaway is that whoever is he testing against, should offer some

Re: [OSM-talk] Addresses are a tiny fraction of what we do (was: The world’s best addressable map)

2014-11-02 Thread marekskleciak
No one does imports without audit of random samples.
We do it as well.
The percentage of errors checked in tested area corresponds to the average
content errors
created by OpenStreetMap mappers.

Of course, this must be checked each time, if we import data.
We should never believe in the quality of whole geodatabase, if we check only
the part.

Marek

Re: [OSM-talk] Drones

2014-07-24 Thread marekskleciak
Sometime I think, it wolud be nice to start with developing of our own
aplication for capturing of:
1. Aerial images
2. Terrain model information
3. 3D information about buildings
We have enoug knowdlege in the cloud to do it. What we need is one or 2
universities for staering the develepment and (probably) crowd funding for
getting it open source.
I can write mockup for such solution.

Haven't flown any...yet, but think it has real possibilities to help map.
Satellite imagery always seems out of date or cloud covered. Being able to
capture new buildings using drones seem like a good fit. I have seen 3D
modeling using images taken from quadcopters. The possibilities of what can be
done with open source software are pretty amazing. We are going to have a
demo of aerial imagery using kits at an upcoming OSM 10th Anniversary event in
