Re: [talk-au] Mapping 'private roads' conclusion
A bit late to the party but anyway: I wonder if we should add a sentence about verifiability (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Verifiability) like: "If you are mapping private areas, make sure you only include details that [other mappers can verify]( https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Verifiability)" This covers the case like me who does map private roads etc but only where others can see them from the street or from the air etc. Indeed I'd like to map a swimming pool but can't as no-one else can verify it as is not visible from above, nor from any public place. There is certainly enough to do without adding any additional tasks to what most are already doing. There are 3 reasons why I asked. I have added a road in the past that I know is there but leads to some homesteads, I did not think it needed access=private but it did. I came across a deletion of a bridge that I had reference to, the local who deleted it claimed it was private, I checked with the council and they too said it was private. So I put it back with access private and made comments to the local. I came across some deletions by someone who did not want people using their farm tracks. Another mapper remapped these with comments back to the deleter. So there is some action over private roads that concerns me and I wanted some wider thoughts. ___ Talk-au mailing list Talk-au@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-au

I like the suggestion to add destination. This is sensible for three driveways leaving from the same road to different houses. I think the wording suggestions are good.
