If we're talking priority, then I'd love to see more of Manitoba,
specifically these areas I'm very familiar with:
062H - Winnipeg
062I - Gimli
062N - Dauphin area
Thanks!

Hi Daniel,
Tyler Mikey, et all
You might want to email Daniel directly :)
It looks like the process is going very well. And seems to be going in a
full NTS tile area at a time. You can tell from the 'Last Modified date' in
the directory ftp://ftp2.cits.rncan.gc.ca/osm/pub/
Its important to be
When importing the data do we favour yahoo existing data in OSM (which
is obviously traced from satellite imagery) or CanVec? I'm assuming
CanVec for parks would be based on official park boundaries rather than
yahoo, line of site on open spaces. So parks would be better coming
from CanVec.
Around Vancouver I have found CanVec buildings to be quite inaccurate, so i
would use Yahoo there. Best to do some mapping on the ground though with
your GPS so you can be sure that Yahoo is properly rectified because I know
quite a few areas in my neighborhood where yahoo imagery is off by like
Hi,
Im just looking at the 001k11 area and i j see a few features nodes

So i think there must be an error somewhere.
Looking at 001k14 area, and the canvec.osm files seem fine. :)
Thanks,
Sam

Hi,
There is also the Spot5 imagery :)
and the CanTopo geoTIFFs to compare.
for those parks that i origionally converted, you need to compare with
CanTopo as that is more accurate.
and as Russel and Tyler Just mentioned. It's really a combo of both. and
check the local GPS tracks

Jeff,
Let's just leave the OSM Mapping party as a proposed event for the

The only effects the 001k11 001k12 001k13 areas. All the other ones seem fine.
I put a not on it in my file version.

Bonjour Michael
About accuracy: Canvec should usually be better than 10m (90%) for road network
and 30m for other features. We know that Yahoo imagery often have offsets.
However, you better have plenty of gps tracks to take a decision.
By the way, there is no park boundaries in Canvec
Hello,
I have been invited by Sam Vekemans to post this call for involvement here.
Here's the deal. I'm an OpenStreetMap contributor, which means I'm
always looking at a map, but never talking to the other people in the
area. I don't even know if there are other people. I'd like to help

Salut tous le monde,
001k11 001k12 001k13 will be reprocessed. There was an error in the Canvec to
Osm tag conversion that we didn't see in the samples.
We are correcting the conversion process and it will return to the normal
around 17:00 Sherbrooke time.

Is there any way to apply a minus on the OSM files? ie: Select a
CanVec grid, and open in JOSM. Then click a download button and it
removes any object which are identical?

Nope :)
Painfull copy/paste.
And hide/show canvec.osm layer to see whats missing.
I just work in a small corner of the tile and work my way around,
deleting the copied in features from the canvec.osm file as i go, and
save this 'smaller version' locally on my computer as a working copy.
